X2's

So, I'm looking at getting an X2 for myself to play around on and for my lady to use to play around on.

What's the differences between the 80's and 90's models and is there one better than another?

If there's someplace I can go "read" about X2's that'd be appreciated too.

non squirl cage, not horrible, sqirl cage is better, but theyre both ok

the newer the better, but you're gonna pay a little more. The early models and maybe even the first year had a hood that dumped water right on top of the motor. Basically if you can get your hands on a 93-95, you're good. My first was an 89 and Im still riding it, love it to death!

Oh and pwctoday has lots of info on the X2, especially in the X2 section! Old school section here has lots too, both sites offer pretty much anything and everything you would ever need to know and if you need to know more, someone here will help you!

Whatever you choose, do it justice by adding at least a 750 and trick it out. It's not your cookie cutter SJ, so get creative and blaze your own path.

There's an 86' on CL here they will take $800 for, I offered him $600 but no-go. For $800-1200 I seem to be able to find the 90s+ so I'll keep an eye out for a newer one... I'm in no rush so I'll hopefully find a really nice one.

I paid 650 for my 89, granted, it was almost the off season, but I still got a good two months in last summer before it was too cold. Picked up a 95 this year for $400, but it's basically a hull, so that's become the project ski and will get the 750 motor snowxr is talking about...

Good luck, there seems to be a lot of love for the X2. I happened across mine just trying to get a ski in general, picked it up since I figured I could put the ole lady on it with me and have fallen completely in love with them. My friends still give me a hard time about it and I do plan on picking up a superjet this winter, but will always have an X2 to ride!

It definitely needs a 750, you will also want to move the air intake, check out Crabs build on here ot Pete's build on PWCToday for what they've done to their X2's.
