When I fitted the stator I measured the depth of the hole and cut the bolts a few mm shorter.
The stator did up fine so thought nothing of it. Turns out my billet cases weren’t tapped all the way to the bottom as over time the stator had become slightly loose and had rotated all the way retarded. It was still tight pretty tight to turn by hand but guess there is a pretty strong pull on the flywheel that over time dragged it round.
Tapped holes with plug tap, reset timing and is perfect again.
Only found out by chance as had an issue with my flywheel.
