The standard xfs and xfr have the same bottom. Only difference is the tray length I believe. Xfs Competition has a completely different bottom. My carbon core xfr is for sale. It’s a glass hull with a special honeycomb core material or added Strength. Has some carbon in the layup in certain areas

Id like a xfs as I have a fr2 for surf and lake already. And glass specifically so I can easily repair it 5 or 10 years down the road. All vendors do not offer a glass option anymore, at least from my inquiry. Thanks for the replies either way.

What is the reason for wanting only a xfs? Lighter glass layup?

Xfr will be a slightly thicker layup, so you wont have to repair it in 5-10 years. Carbon core is primarily fiberglass. You would repair it in the same fashion as a 100% glass ski.

xfs tray is different, inside bay is different they lack a bulkhead, and they are usually 10-20 pounds lighter. I have a buddy who would prob sell me his xfr for 4 or 5 k if I wanted to go that route. I appreciate the consideration either way

What do you mean lack a bulkhead?

I’ve never seen a ski without a bulkhead. Is this what you are referring to? Open underneath the tray and bulkhead doesn’t come all the way down on the sides so water can flow out of the dual scuppers?

Xfr and xfs LT have the exact same tray. Normal xfs tray is still the same just a little shorter

Your not going to get a lighter glass Rickter than a carbon core. Bare hull without all the crap on it is around 80lbs.

Not sure why everyone is trying to get me to buy a xfr? I've rode one. Built to the hilt. It was a badass ski for sure. Flatwater flips no problem. The guy is selling it and already bought a xfs to replace it.

If there is one thing ive learned with jet skis, or anything in life for that matter. Get what you want the first time. Might be a hassle, pain, or expensive, but its worth it in the long run.

I appreciate the replies. Thats what the forum is about. But unless someone has a xfr for under 4k, im only interested in a xfs.

Because they are better suited for flat water. Hence the fs and not fr. Ive directly spoken with rickter on facebook about them. The xfr i rode was a lt model, as far as I know, same layup as a xfs. Different top deck. Being able to get your weight even a inch more forward in the tray makes a huge difference. Carbon core is not the same as glass. When you have a failure.it doesnt fail the same. Glass is very easy to repair. Im equipped with everything to do it should the need arise. I have a fr2 evo that is a great surf/freeride ski. i want a ski that is 100 percent flat water. Strictly Flips, 540s, and Barrel rolls off idle. If im going to drop 15-30k on something, I want what I want.

A “Carbon core” ski is glass. Carbon core is just a foam core material. It’s a brand name of core material. It’s a gimmick. It has nothing to do with carbon. The name is a sales ploy. Im not trying to push it on you. You want what you want

Sorry to butt in but your gonna need a pretty hefty well tuned drivetrain package to get a glass rickter to off idle backflip, 540, or barrel roll. It’s nothing new that rickters are built to last and always weighed more than the competition but 30lbs goes a very long way when your trying to accomplish the above. I wouldn’t steer away from a carbon hull completely, just as easy to fix if problems arise

Ill be learning tricks. Its gonna get busted up. I drink beers and ride my river. I hit rocks alot. Ive ripped multiple intakes out. poop happens. Call it how you want, but I want a glass hull. I know what weight will do. I had a very early chan. It would flip with a 701. It also fell apart in 3 seasons. I Appreciate seasoned riders commenting and helping thus far, but Ive already made up my mind and its been something ive thought about for quite a while. Id get a older xfs as they are super easy to source, but they just dont look as cool, and im trying to make this hull the last hull i buy for a long long time.
