XFS hull - what is this on hull in pic

Both pics of XFS competition hulls.

On yellow ski what is the item underneath the 4 pissers on the firewall.

On the red ski it seems to have the same thing on the right hand side of dash.

On a side note these skis dont appear to have fuel primers. Do ya prime it everytime ya fill up or something.

On big free style motors you usually stick ur hand over the carbs to prime at the start of the day then it’s fine after that.
