This has continued to bother me, On alot of other sites they would have to pay vendor fees $10 is nothing!!

RESPECT a word that is easily forgotten these days... This is a main reson I paid my donation I love to help ppl out anyway I can and just the free info off here is worth the $10.00. The way I look at it is if your ski has an issue you can't just run down to your local rip off dealer and give them the symptoms and they tell you how to fix it for free, No you drop it off at $100.00 an hr and you might be back on the water before summer is over LOL. Im not one to get involved with this kinda stuff but nothing in this world is free anymore and I would hate to not have this kinda info and connections at my finger tips everyday ive meet alot of awsome ppl and new friends on here.

Just my 2cents and way of looking at it.:dunno:

True. But......
a "donation" is a donation. Let's not forget how small a community this really is.

It's wrong to alienate anyone who does not donate. None of us really know anothers financial situation. Nor do we know if they sneak onto the x when the wife is not looking etc....

This is why I will ask Darren to disable my bold letters when donation time rolls around. I have no clue of what it takes to run/maintain this site. But I've spent ten bux on lunch. I'll donate.

But, obviously, some folks are assuming that some sellers don't. Based on the bold letters....(I'm guessing)

Some folks are not "regular" sellers. Should they be required to pay ten bux to sell a coupler damper for 15? Even though they may not sell anything else that year?

I think the current set-up is fine. I think the site is run better than many I visit. And I believe those who use the site appreciate it.
Hopefully enough to donate if they are able.

I agree and I've donated and plan to again. I work in the web world and understand costs of maintaining a site.

A lot of other forums have membership levels and indicate what their level is in the personal info on each post. This would help the sellers too. To use FlightPlanDan as an example  Something like the pic below would let buyers know as well...

I had not donated in the past. Didn't even know the option was there. Saw this thread and just paid my ten bucks.

If you can't afford $10 let's be honest you can't afford this sport, there are sellers on this site that should be called vendors they should pay a vendor fee, the are using the x for advertising anywhere else in the world you have to pay for advertising

That may be true.
Who should single them out? You? And even if they didn't fork over the ten bux, does that mean that they were not helpful to members who were in need of what they had to sell?

Whatever is done, if anything, has to encompass all. I don't believe any change is needed. I don't see a fair-to-all way to change it.

Did I miss something? Is the site in trouble?

Lol, I think I might have been misunderstood simply put IMO vendors should have to pay, but then the argument comes up when would you be considered a vendor... Simple solution pay to post on the "for sale"
That's my train of thought

Diggler for example... That's a prime example because of his popularity

And by no means am I complaining on how the site is run bottom line it costs money to run it and if your making profit because of the site dam rights you should help keep it running!

I understand your position, and the emotion that drives it. I'm not defending any seller. But, this is the internet. If you start to restrict use of the site based on whether a seller has donated 10 bux or not, the result will likely be less revenue for the site because of less "hits". The ads and what the advertisers pay are/is still based on hits (I'm guessing).
And again, it's a small community compared to most. Even if they don't donate, I appreciate the knowledgable input of anyone.

I hate to think of "an X" where I can only get parts or input from a member who has "donated". lol,,,,but not lol.
It costs nothing to register and become a member.
But you think it should cost to use the "stuff for sale" section?

c'mon dude.

Honestly I don't have a problem with anybody average Joe using the "for sale" as I said before it costs money to run it and if your making profit because of the site you should help fund it... How can you disagree with that point, it won't affect hits or restrict access.

And in no way do I think this site is poorly run!
