Any cons on these.I tried one over the weekend on 2nd natures ski.Took a second to get use to not having a spring.love the looks of them .is there another pole besides stock out there that compares.

well, it was designed especially for freestyle/freeride by one of the best freestylers out there......... nobody else can clame that about their pole....... besides that, it really is a good pole, more riders use his setup than any other...... If it breaks, Pat will take care of it....................

yes, the no spring part does take a bit to get use to but after a while you forget about it. I have even raced my SJ with that setup..............

It's definitely a really nice pole, but I just don't like the fact of not having a spring. I don't like having a loose pole either. I've ridden plenty of ski's with tight poles like the xmetal and I like the fact that it's stiff, but it seems like I am always fighting to keep it in one spot.

I have a shortened stock handlepole and blowsion spring. I tightened up my bracket so it has that stiff feel to it without being too tight where I feel I am fighting the pole and then the spring helps keep it up so I don't feel like I am holding it up either. Personally I think that's the best of both worlds.

When and if my stock pole every breaks and if I have the $$$ then I'll probably buy an xmetal. I definitely think Xmetals are the best aftermarket pole out there(Best value also), but in my opinion if you're on a budget and you've got a stock RN pole then shorten that and ride it till you break it.

If you take a look at my ski in my avatar and notice how the stock pole looks like it's floating, it actually isn't. If I want it to be in that position then I have to move it there like you would an xmetal. The spring isn't making it float like most spring poles. Like I said before I think it's a great setup because I can move my pole to the level I want it then leave it there and it won't move, but at the same time it's loose enough so I'm not fighting it. Now if you use a springless pole and try to make it the same "not too stiff" feeling then it will fall down because of not having a spring then you feel like you are always holding the handlepole up which also sucks.

Well I'll get off my soap box, but if you haven't ridden a stock pole that has been tightened and has an aftermarket spring then try it.

For the money, I'd run a stocker till it breaks. I love my XMW pole though.
They can be used with a single bolts and spring, too, btw.

I am not entirely sure....but it seems the reason you don't hear of anyone doing that is because they like the dual bolt/stiff setup.
Maybe I am missing something....but I am not sure why you couldn't run a spring on it. Perhaps you need to rig something for stopping the spring in the bracket, but that shouldn't be too hard.

i run a aftermarket pole and bracket and i can only ride with it stiff but the bracket and bushingdesign isnt great so i am constantly having to tighten it.
can anyone comment on the x metal pole and bracket stiff? do you have to keep tightening?

A/C is the best IMO, not as pretty, but you can run tight w/ a spring or tight w/o a spring and it AINT GONNA break so no need to have it replaced to begin with. I like Pat as well (I even bought his old A/C pole from him) but not a fan of cast top and bottom poles or the spring option being removed.
Pat does stand by his work though and ALOT of people love this pole for a reason I am sure. Just throwing out another point of view.

just get the single hole in the pole bracket............ with the dual breather tubes it takes up alot of space.

so are you saying that the breather tubes get in the way when tightening the bolts?
i have this same problem but im willing to struggle to get that massive air flow the dual breather is massive!

ok sorry for not seeing that,
i live in the UK and there isnt many to my knowledge but i have seen one and i was very impressed!!!
i will hopefully be speaking to Pat in the future!!!

I agree. The stocker is easy to shorten, light weight and cheap (free!!). It'll let you know when you need a stronger pole - sometimes rather dramatically! When it does, XMetal all the way....

The pole is top notch! Mine is a hand-me-down from Stoyer. I love it!!
Still trying to get used to the no-pole spring thing though. A stiff pole is weird if your not used to it.
