Okay guys, i just got my chan and i am having a dilemma with deciding on a correct length pole for it!!!

I will be using this as a do it all boat, flat water, lake michigan surf, river riding ect ect with different length ride plates, So this is NOT going to be a flatwater only boat.

First question, what are the length's of Xmetal poles is this correct?

Comp length= 27.5 shortest - 30.5 longest
Mid length=?
Full length= 33.5 shortest - 36.5 longest

Second question, what have other Chan or short boat owners found they like there pole length at?

Mine currently has a Comp pole extended to the longest length possible and 50mm riser bars angled back some and i still feel its going to be to short for the kind of riding i want to do BUT i dont really know as everything is still frozen here and i cant actually try it out.
I have a couple people that have offered to trade standard length for my comp but i dont know if thats what i need to do? I dont want to have to change (Buy,sell or trade) poles multiple times.

Any help or insight you guys have would be awesome.

What kind of riding did you do mainly?

Does any one know the length of the Mid pole. Shortest and longest pivot to pivot? And even more importantly does anyone know where you can get one still.

I talked to x-metal about this before I ordered my pole, turns out they don't produce the mid length anymore.

For my BOB I went with Comp. length and if I need to gain a couple/few inches past its adjustment I plan on trying a different steering plate or rotating my riser bars down.

Yeah nube, I was going to say use a full length steering plate.
I just measured mine on my chan, at the longest its 32". I custom ordered my length a few years ago when I ordered it. I wasn't sure until now if they just gave me a comp length.

Since you have not ridden it, you probably are not accounting for the ass end and nose being lower and higher when you are riding. The pole will be closer to you than when you are on it in your garage.

Oh yeah i know that it will be way different in the water, If it was actually like it is on the stand it would be un-ridable LOL. I have a Blowsion Phatclamp system on it now with 50mm risers rotated almost all the way back.

It sucks that they stopped making the MID length pole a while back, Now you just have to get lucky and act quick if one comes up for sale.

Thanks for the answers so far guys.

I am running a comp length poll. I would like it a bit longer. When cruising around i have to step all the way up in the trey, but with the fat bars turned back might be just right. A couple more inches would help me a lot.

my ride plate is +2 and +3 in the center

Thanks Tricky, it already has a Comp pole on it.

My ride plate is the same right now, trying to aquire a full length plate to play around with too. What you described is what i am worried about.

A full length would give me a extra 3 inches and i could turn the riser bars back up. But thats all the way as short as it would go and i know i would never want it any longer than that, but i may want it shorter in the future.

This is why im torn....................................so who has a mid length they want to sell LOL

Probably not the most desirable option but you could also consider having a new pole bracket made up that moves the pivot point/pole bolt back an inch or two.

Pm Chadman....I'm pretty sure my kdx that I sold to him in the fall had a mid on it.

Last I heard he was running the carbon freak pole
