XMetal Poles and Steering cables

Years ago on my old XMetal Pole I got an aftermarket Steering cable, may have been a WSM or SBT, cannot remember. But it would not fit thru the hole at the top, had to drill out for clearance. Currently I am running the Adjustable XMetal pole. What cables have you guys been using. Just installed a WSM cable and it bent after 2 rolls. Steering was setup correctly but I am thinking the set nut backed off and went down, causing the cable to bottom on the nut causing the cable end to bind up and bend. I honestly do not remember if I tighten up the nut or not. I will call it install error on my part if that is what happened. But what I am curious to know is what other cables people have been using on the Adj poles. I got it straightened but we all know after they bend, it is just a matter of time.

Gp760 cable worked on my comp length pole. But if I recall it was about the same length as the Superjet one ( maybe an inch or two shorter ) and it's much bigger. Had to change out the ends and use the gp rubber bushing and retainers in the pump area. The plastic piece in the hull worked but was tight getting the cable through. I might have ran a drill bit through it for good measure, But I haven't bent anymore cables!!

You definitely have to mod the retainer for the blowsion cable, as well as the retainer in the pump area. Pain in the ass but does seem to be a nice cable.

I'm not running an xmetal pole so I can't comment on having to mod the holder. It fit in the rrp holder just fine. But as far as cables go, even if you have to do a little modifying it's well worth it to have a cable you won't have to worry about for a long time.

I have gone through 3 cables this year. All on xmetal comp pole, and all of them I will say user error and stupidity (letting it rub on the pump water fitting till it wore through). I have flipped the pump and using a good strong cable right now. Pretty sure its OEM SJ cable, took my time on install and hope it to last a long time.

JetManic has a NEW OEM steering cable for sale on special right now. Its what I run on my XMW pole and never had to replace a cable due to it breaking/bending. Only had 1 melt that rubbed the PFP waterbox in 10+ years
