Approx every how many hours do you need to strip rebuild an XS1000 running a PFP?
Me and Lucas did them at 200-250 gallons of fuel... Top end was fine, crank looked good also...
But if the crank fails you had a bad day...
So every 200 gallons is a good idea
Crank overhaul and new top end? How much are pistons for one of those motors and how readily available are they? Can you buy them anywhere or are they custom pistons? Just curious.
If I remember right Crankworks charged $535 to rebuild the crank, pistons $335, plus seals, gaskets, etc... XS wanted 1k to assembly, so guess what we did it on our own... blue assembled mine and Lucas xs1000 motors
Normally XS never has anything in stock, we got lucky when we needed pistons...
Sounds right on the Crankworks prices. Nice thing is that the stroker rebuild cost is quite similar to the stock crank rebuild cost.

i think some lose sight of exactly that.....the cost in a stroker is really just the cost of the stroker crank..once you own it, the cost is the same to rebuild.....unless it grenades completely
how many hours were on it when I got it from you???
Not much, motor was done in December, assembled in the freak, pulled out in April ... That was winter , if I remember right maybe 50-65 gallons of gas... I had it marked on the inside of my hood
Motor ran 30 minutes on 2 gal of gas... So I would guess 15 hrs
Yes Gil pistons have to come from XS.... Hey we even cleaned the cases after we disassembled the motor and it was still quoted at over 1k to assemble! Really sucked when the last 3 motors including this xs1000 I was charged $300 to assemble....
I'm much happier now .... I have seen the light, the Dasa light!
