Freestyle XS1200 or DASA 1200?

I might be looking for a new motor next year, what's the general view on the xs12000 and DASA1200?

I will be running it in am XFS with PFP, Mag, TL etc.

Anyone tried them back to back? What are the Pro's/cons of each?

I've had a 6mm DASA (cast cylinder) and XS1000 before - current is the XS so I'm not afraid to take either, just wondered the other members thought?

Thanks in advance for positive input.

Jim

I have only ridden the XS1200 , power was unreal on just pump gas. But take a look at what Rok, and Lee Stone were running... Dasa 1200. both are excellent motors. Maybe some more riders will give there feedback. Like someone who has ridden both.

I had this same decision to make and I ended up getting a Dasa because it's $2000 cheaper than the XS. I wanted the XS1200 initially, but couldn't justify paying the extra 2g's for it.

Tricky had both. DASA 1200 in his Freak and an XS1200 in his KDX. He is now running XS12's in everything. But that is his preference. Does not mean one is better than the other.

If it's hell fire and brimstone you want, get the XS, if it's smooth looong power you want, get the DASA. I also rode both of Tricky's 12's and the XS IMO was well worth the xtra money over the DASA. If I could afford one, I'd be burning up Pat's phone. lol

Smooth, long power from a DSA 1200? Better tell tricky he needs to go back to the drawing board.

I dare say if ANYONE on this planet knows how to get every last ounce out of a DASA 1200, it would be Tricky. Maybe you need to ride some of his ski's sometime. LOL
Anyone that ever has, goes home and burns their own skis to the ground. LOL Tricky builds monster motors that make people soil their shorts!!!

i would be willing to bet what gil means is the dasa is smooth compared to the violent power of the scream motor

Exactly. In NO way am I discounting the shear strength of the DASA, but compared to the XS12, well IMO there is a fair amount of difference.

You need to remember just how subjective all this is and what 1 man likes, 10 others may hate. I love the feeling of Tricky's XS12's because they make me SCARED!!! Iv'e never experienced a engine with that much instant hit the instant the butterflies start to crack on a motor with that kind of displacement. Now, if you want to discuss Tricky's ability to set up a DASA 12? Rock on and get ready for total humiliation. If I had to guess I would say Tricky was building DASAs while you were in diapers..............

haha, it'll be funny to see. everyone who's been on the ski has said it's been the nastiest ski yet. i'm curious more then anything. the xs1200 should be the big dawg on the block. a 62t can never run like a 66e or polaris. just hope it's as good as i think it is. i already know i'm not going to be humiliated. been on too many 1200cc boats not to know where i'm at now.

After Blake has tweeked the Dasa 1200 I have, it is a whole new beast, crazy power with,,,,, yes with instant throttle response something no other big motor has had that I have ridden . It makes power everywhere not just at the top .
