Looking at upgrading my 865 xscream motor to a xscream 1000cc. How does the xscream 1000cc compare to the, similar displacement options out there? Been out of the scene for some time so I don't have any experience with the newer options.

Dont hear of people buying xs1000. Really depends on your budget. Dasa 950 is a good option. Or 1105/7 or 1200 16mil if you can swing it.

Knowing xs, their 1000 is probably fine too, dont personally know anyone running one.

Just looked, for the price of the 10mil xs 1000 you can get a et 16mil 1200. A lot more motor and it's a little cheaper.

i was looking at a used xs1000cc and i run a 144 mag. I think the 144 works well up to 1000cc which is why was looking at that cc range. What cc/power level do you need to go bigger on the pump?

Wamiltons SJ with 08+ bottom

I'd run a 148 pump/shoe before you upgrade, or do it all at the same time.

You can drive anything with a smaller pump, your just not getting it's full potential.

I have a mint 148 mag pump with fresh bearings/seals for sale..

I had a 148 mag and sold it because the performance was not 1200 more than the 144 mag i already had in there.

I noticed a night and day difference going from 144 mag to 148 torrent in my bob. If you go new; go with the torrent 150. Confirm it, but I believe it will fit the SJ without any added work.

Yes 150 uses same housing as 148.

Your 148 may of not been tuned right, a lot too getting a pump dialed in perfect. Or it just didnt work well with your small pump tunnel.

150 setback would be the ticket. But your small pump tunnel will be holding it back.

Maybe it would help to know the rest of your set up? I ran an 865 with a 144, b pipe, enhancer. It did well being in a carbon hull. The next season I upgraded to a 155 pump, PFP, and Zeeltronic. Felt like a completely different engine.

Edit:
Reason I’m wondering your set up is to know if you’ve tapped out what you currently have. You may be surprised. Plus, it may not be very beneficial to go larger if you don’t have the mods to support it yet. That is, unless you are planning on upgrading all at one time?

Another huge factor is the hull? Unless you are just super pleased with what you have, have you considered swapping hulls. A new hull can make that engine feel a lot bigger as well. I’m not trying to talk you out of upgrading engines though, just seeing if you’ve considered all options? I find it hard to believe a 148 wasn’t worth it.

He is running an AM Wammer Hull, 90 lbs???? Not a back flip hull, but still a lighter hull than Stock.

I'd be more worried about the small tunnel then the weight. BUT a carbon hull with a big tunnel will make that engine feel like it has a whole lot more HP. If it was me, I would get a new/used hull before I spent 10k on a new engine package.

Bigger motor may be a bit of a waste on that current setup.

I was in your shoes about 5 years ago...had a xs865 (ss900) and I asked xscream themselves about jumping to the xs1000. They told me then that they had more development into the then xs900 10 mil and we’re getting more out of that setup. If I were you I’d check out some of the other 900 stroker motors or maybe the php1015...just my .02
