I have a mod b pipe to run on this set up .would it be worth finding a limited chamber to have this done to? Anyone gone from 1 to the other noticed much improvement ?

PM ScottS and ask him about it. He did it to his and had good results. He actually lengthened his mod chamber and enlarged the stinger himself.

It's for when running an aftermarket waterbox, aftermarket waterboxes don't provide the proper backpressure, stinger mod fixes that... At least that's what I understood when talking to Xmetal

You already dropped the big $$$$ on the 865... might as well just complete the package with what chuck recommends. I recently sold my extra MOD chamber, just so I could get a limited for my 865 build.

This was the one thing i skipped when building my 865. I did bore the headpipe/manifold larger though. Might do it sometime down the road. Maybe an EPIC too.

If you want a limited chamber call Art at Jetworks and tell him that you have a mod and want a limited. Art tells his peeps to run mods so their is a possible trade for you if he has a customer needing to trade a limited for a mod.

Pretty much, i was told that the loss of back pressure = loss of power....so run the stinger mod with a/m waterbox and the problem is fixed... im just running a stock waterbox, thats like $300 you can spend on say a trim... but you are giving up civic power

How does this increase back pressure? By the looks of it it just looks like the sleeve over the original stinger is angled straighter for less hull interference and eliminates the need to run the silicone angled hose.

I have never heard a single statement from X-Scream about the stinger mod having anything to do with the waterbox nor was there any suggestion of running an aftermarket waterbox with the SS865 package. Some companies sell a stinger enlagement sleeve/mod so you don't have to buy the special B-pipe elbow that reduces down to the b-pipe chamber but that is not really what this member is posting about. (Another added benefit is that the coupler runs cooler and the stinger can can be dried out more without risking burning up couplers as often).

The stinger mod for the SS865 package is actually 2 mods. It is the mod I mention above but more importantly it increases the exit size of the exhaust by a few mm as well. 2 stroke pipes are "tuned" precisely to reflect the exhaust pulse back towards the engine at the proper time. If the fresh air/fuel charge is not reflected back to the cylinders at the perfect time, performance will be affected. A reduction in the head pipe will slow this charge down, (in both directions), and a reduction in the stinger will affect it's escape time. Some might consider these two mods to be insignificant but they have huge affects on the tuning of the engine and if you didn't opt to do these mods with your SS865 then you have left HP on the table, and perhaps some of the cheapest HP at that. Why spend $6K on an engine and then not do the reccomended mods to make that engine perform as designed?

Anyone who doubts what the total package can do, if done correctly, is more than welcome to ride my ski at Daytona this year. I have not done anything extravagant, just followed my builders reccomendations to a T and it shows.

OCD is right if your builder tells you to run a mod its probably of a reason, I'm putting in an order for some stuff this afternoon, I'll ask what it does and let you guys know what they say

I'll intently listen this time!

Just to clarify, the stinger mod being discussed is not a generic, make power on any motor mod. It is the mod X-Scream reccomends that be made to a limited chamber to be used specifically with an SS865.

what is the source for the stringer to waterbox coupler?

this mod eliminates water from altering the size of the stringer. If a water restrictor is used, the stringer would need to be reduced to get back to FP specs.

On by boat I think the coupler is a little kinked. I think the stringer size is how kinky the coulper is.

I was asking specifically for x scream 865 being in the uk and on a budget just wanted as much feedback as possible from people who have this set up . I was most lightly going to run it on a mod chamber bored header pipe and a modded stock water box . I've already decided to go with full specs on this not sbn's but the budget isn't endless otherwise it would be a 1000 in a carbon hull lol

Try it and tell us how it works, i was going to run my carbon mod chamber with mine but was told it was not ideal for the motor. You can always upgrade later. Shipping across the pond isn't too bad or I'm sure Chris at ATP would be more than happy to mod you up a limited chamber.
