Yamaha CDI Identification

Does anyone know if you can identify a stock Yamaha CDI box based on the label printed on it? This is out of my spare parts and I don’t know if it’s a 650 or 701.

6m6 is 650. 61x and 62t-701

Thank you! I knew those engine codes, but didn’t realize that that’s what would be printed on the CDI. It seems that some stuff has 6m6 for both 650 and 701, but that could be my rusty memory.

Itl work on a 701 but it'll have a lower Rev limit. You can mod the cdi for a raised limit though.

I was just looking for a spare to take to the lake for the summer. I’ve look at the CDI mod forums but not sure I want to mess with the potting myself. May send this 650 one off to be modded.

Correct, but the 650 timing curve isnt as good as the 62t.

Good backup for testing. You will want to make yourself a jumper for the white/red stripe wire if you are using a 62t stator. The gender needs to be changed to match up. We can make you one if you dont have the oem barrels.
