Hi all,

I just wanted to share my happiness with everybody :) After many months of saving and looking I got a fully stock 2002 RN SJ. I used to be a complete Kawi guy, I still have my FS/FR 550, but most of my attention will go to this new baby.

I will use this ski for lake riding and for practicing freestyle tricks. I plan to go bigger once I handle this power setup

The good:bananajump::
- very low hours for the year ( I say about 40, maybe less - the grips seem barely touched):eek2:
- totally stock
- no salt water riding ever
- perfect pump (liner looks new, prop is still green - justhe usual mark from waterflow, grease smells new)
- hull is mint, just a few scratches

The bad:

- Had a tiny accident on lake - hit by a couch - first time rider on a RXPX255:AR15firing:
- cracked pole + chinpad (can still ride)
- cracked hood where the oem container is

The plan:

- getting another hull from Maris Racing Latvia (memebr here), (OEM hull with: full carbon fiber reinforcement, defoamed, low nose + bracket, low hood with holds, rickroy footholds, scupper valve, turf all around + 2 color paint!) and putting my 2002 internals in prepped hull. Maybe a alu pole, or get new OEM pole and shorten it.

- Already got a SJ 2008 impeller - should fit right there in the 2002 pump? + nozzxle boring + pump blueprinting

- Factory Pipe with "Wammer Mod"

- Racelogic sport port porting - Will gladly get one from somebody

- Steering mod

- rejjetted carbs without choke.

- straight bars

- oem ride plate or D-cut?

- cut oem intake grate or aftermarket?

-A/M head - will not shave the oem one, as it can be used in big bore engines.

As you can see I am doing this step by step, trying to save as much money:sad6: as I can, but still get a "quality product".

Good that most parts will be bolt ons after I am done with transplant :)

Let me know what you think. Free mods are more than welcome! Thank you for all the future answers to my Q's, which I wll surely ask

Andrew

IMO for advice, Don't do porting until you have at least a 44/46/49mm carb system.
When running the stock carbs, just leave in the stock chokes...not worth the extra tuning problems as stock carbs will get way to fussy when you remove them...Keep it simple and easy to tune.

Chuck, so even a mild port job will require larger carbs? I am not sure whter I did a correct reading but some builders suggest leaving those 38mm ones even for 845cc big bore kits (obviously circuits uprated).

I know that 61x cylinders are poorly ported/matched from the factory, thus thought that some simple porting would "clean up" the cylinder castings a bit and so on...

Chuck, Great too see that you guys are from FL - this means shorter shipping route to Europe for me :).

I will email your shop shortly with some outline of our possible cooperation.

Amen to that dude! Simple is where it's at. Makes life so much less stressful. Chuck had my ski tuned in about 45 seconds. :burnout:

I thought that removing the choke plates is an "all gain, no loss mod" - you do not have to play with the jetting screws, just the plates.... or am I wrong?

Update:

- "new" hull is in - it has: low nose, low bracket, shortened UMI pole, scupper valve, low hood with 2 holds, turf all around, kick tail, and carbon fiber reinforced engine bay. The hull is defoamed. I heard its 15 kg lighter than stock.

- B- pipe is in - mint condition. It was bored a bit - need to measure how much, manifold is set up for 2 cooling. Need to get the jets and springs for the "Wammer Mod" - any opinions on this mod?

- OEM 2008 impeller - new condition at 100 usd. Not bad. I guess it will fit right there and gimme some brapp?

- free mods - quick steering, what else..?

I still do not know how to post pics in this forum. The other one : just insert straight from your own PC....
