Hey guys just looking for some opinions, I've done a lot of reading but would like some help from you pros I recently swapped out my 650 for a 62t/62t that I got for a great deal. It has a 760 intake manifold on it with dual 44's and I'm running a b pipe with limited chamber.
I looked up the carb database thread and found a few setups like mine dual 44's on a 701 with a b pipe and followed the jetting mentioned (120 pilot 115 main). I got it fired up and it ran great on land.
Fast forward to the first test run, I dropped it in the water and it idled great. Then I hit the gas and it fell on its face and died. Messed with the low speed screw and went richer, every time I went richer it ran better. (Duh it was starving for gas.) At this point it's still barely rideable and about 4 turns out on the low. I had to keep hitting the primer if I was under 1/4 throttle just to get on plane. After that it rips hard. So I rode around a bit where the power was good then packed it up.
I did some research and found a lot of results of people with similar problems when their pop off pressure is too high. I assume the carbs are stock so the needle and seat should be 1.5 with a 115 gram spring correct? I ordered an 80 gram spring to try out and see if I can at least get on plane without it killing itself. So my question is what do you guys think? Pop off too high? Or pilot jet too small? I feel like a 120 should be fine for a stock engine with just b pipe add after market arrestors. I don't own a pop off gauge yet (I know, I know don't crucify me). Any help is appreciated. Thank you
