Other Your Garage Setup

Epoxy the floors before you put a single thing in there. Wire in a 220 sub panel for Air compressor, welder, etc. Get an Air conditioner for summertime and put foam on your garage door panels to help keep it cool.

Bigger is better but I have been able to make due with all different sizes. Here's a few from over the years.

Here is my current garage. Big bench, upper cabinets, plenty of shelves and a big toolbox with a beer fridge and sirius Internet radio.

Here is the setup that I had up in Canada. Still my favourite by a long shot. Huge stereo with sirius radio, plumbed compressor, tons of shelves, Tons of space, a big wooden bench bench, a 600lb steel bench with 1/2" UHMI cover. could have had more lighting but what couldn't. Here's a few shots of it just after paint and during a few projects...

Something I am working on as a winter project is a Hoist and pully system to take my ski of of the trailer put it on the stand or the cargo carrier I have been running for a bit. Just an idea.

Epoxy the floors for sure. Jus did mine and love it!!!! Once I get my garage straight I'll post pics. Working on finishing the second floor for my office, pool table and projection

Absolutely on the eoxy, i never did my one in Canada and stil regret it but I just did the one down here in South Carolina...It's the finishing touch, brightens up the entire room and makes cleanup a breeze.

OCD you always have the coolest stuff, very well done.

My problem is that I have a one car garage....not much room. I have some big nice high shelves, but I need to redo my floor, put in some more shelves, and build a workbench. I probably won't fit my truck in after that though....

Nice. Did you just do that yourself? What do I need to buy to do that?

They sell it as a kit at Lowes for $110 for the double garage kit. It comes with the acid etching solution, 2 part epoxy and flakes. all you need is a paint tray and a roller and 2 nice warm days to kill scrubbing and rolling. I wanted to do it years ago but always thought it was too expensive, I guess I should have checked the price earlier.

Good ideas in here.

I second the closet for the air compressor. One of my friends built a shed outside of his garage for it to sit in. You can barley hear it running, its awesome.

Another on of my friend has multiple work benches (big garage) and is super nice if you have multiple things going on. He also wired in big stereo speakers in all corners of the garage and mounted them up high.

I also have a buddy who has a 40" lcd tv and couch in his garage. Its the ultimate hangout..... but ya its very distracting.

I have also seen a sweep vacuum setup on the base of the walls. You could sweep sawdust and other things right into the house vacuum.

Lots of lighting. Cant have too many flourescent lights in a work garage.

T5 HO (high output)

55w per lamp, they're so bright you can't even look at them. I have two 8' (4lamp) strips. They're unreal, and only about 10 bucks more then the cheaper housings. Best thing I've done yet, and they're good for 10,000 hours so you're never up there changing them, and they also start down to about 20 degrees.

Do your research on the epoxy; I've read a lot of bad things about the cheap stuff you buy at the home depot and such... Most are water based and thin...
I need a hoist so I can pick the skis up and stow them in the finished room over my garage!

I agree, the water based stuff is crap must be high solids epoxy (unavailable in Kalifrnica)
and the air compressor will drive you insane unless you put it outside or in a closit like others have said

ski lift , off the trailer or truck up to the rafters
