Zeeltronic intermittent spark

Need some quick help from you zeel guys. About to go to a cottage for a week so I need to fix this now. I just finished building my ski late last night. Cranked it over to check spark and it looked great. I just put fuel in and it fires ever 8-10 rotations. Pulled a plug to check spark and it gives a couple sparks every second or so. Doesn’t continuously spark. Any idea why this is happening? Seems weird that it worked last night.

One thought I have is low battery. I left it connected overnight. Maybe there’s a small draw.

I’m running TL. I only have a pulser coil installed, no charging or lighting and removed the regulator/rectifier from the ebox. This is my first time using the zeel.

Having a charged battery is definitely a good first step…. Do you have the programmer? You can see cranking rpm on there as well as do a spark test.

Yes You meed to have a good strong battery Especially if your running TL

After 30 mins of charging it still was low. When I hooked up the battery cable there was a bit of a spark. Obvious draw on the battery. Not sure where it would be coming from since most of the electronics have been removed. The rectifier is usually the first thing I check.

I cranked it and it started for 10 seconds before having the same issue. I guess I’ll do some charging and try to find what’s pulling power from the battery.

You measured a constant draw with an amp meter? I get a spark when first hooking up the battery ground on mine, but it doesn’t drain the battery if left connected.

It’s a brand new battery. Hopefully it’s good. The smart charger doesn’t show a fault, but I’ll check that out. Didn’t think of that.

I haven’t checked for a constant draw, but the spark was a lot bigger than what you would expect from a functioning system. The battery also discharged from full overnight.

I won’t be able to diagnose anything for a day or two, but more suggestions are welcome until then. I’ll update with my findings when I get a chance to do some diagnosing.

How far did it discharge? You may have destroyed the battery. Start unplugging stuff until it doesn’t spark as big. Definitely measure the draw and unplug stuff until it goes down. Bilge pump? Those are usually suspect. Could be cut/grounded wire in stator. Could be cut/grounded wire to start switch.

Do you have the programing cable. Cn you look at the monitor and see
I’m a few hours from home. I don’t have the laptop or cable with me.
Are you sure you have lobe setting correct in the ignition map?
I haven’t messed with it yet. Should have the stock setting.

Checked out the battery today. Charged with no issues and holds the charge. I don’t have bilge pumps, just scupper. I’ve stripped everything electrical other than the pulser coil, ignition coil, starter solenoid and zeel. Haven’t opened the ebox yet.

Full diagnosis will happen later. Trying to enjoy my vacation. Lots of other toys to use for the week

Okay, back onto this. I've been running my stock ignition, but want to get the second ski going. I just installed the zeel software. I think I found the problem but hopefully someone who knows what they're doing can confirm.

I had PFM (Speedysprocket) cut my flywheel for me to set it up for zeel. I believe it's had the small lobe removed because it was set up for the first version of zeel. I have the PDCIS-A02T now. Do I need to set the trigger signal to only +? It was set to + and -

Another question to save me from searching... How do I switch between the two ignition maps?

No, leave +/- on. Set lobe count to 2. Pink wire controls map switching. U can set it to high low or both to switch.

Thank you! I somehow overlooked where I can change lobe count. It was set to 3. It's very obvious when you see it.

I know nothing about switching maps. What do you do with the pink wire?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the capped grey wire is for?
