Zeeltronics problem

Just installed my zeeltronics on my sxr 800 (actually it's a 920 dasa) and it has the wax programming in it, it starts right up but will not rev out and I have raised the rev limiter way up but it still only goes half throttle and boggs. Check it on a laptop and it seems to be doubling the rpms, any ideas I have adjusted everything on it and used both programs but no help I think I might have a bad unit..

Which Model Zeeltronic?
What Flywheel?
Are the Spark Plugs RESISTOR type?

On the Programming for the PDCIS-01T, what is the "Pulses per Rev" set at?
Yes I have resistor plugs with a jetnitics charging flywheel and there is no pulse settings just trigger settings its on 2 but have tried all settings. Just put my advent back in and it runs fine so I think it is a bad unit, it will start and idle perfect but won't go past half throttle with the zeeltronics!

I'm having trouble with a new AO2T i just bought for my 750SXI Pro. The engine shakes badly when idling on the trailer, coughs and splutters while flushing and when riding it feels spluttery and rich up to around 4,000 RPM. Riding that zone makes the ski vibrate badly like it has multiple engine mount failure, doing a plug chop always shows clean light brown color. Mid range cleans right up. I also noticed idle speed is way up and have to back off the speed screw 1/3 turn compared to stock CDI. I've gone from 1/4 to 1.5 out on mixture screws with little effect on running condition or plug color. Ski runs great with stock CDI. So maybe i have a dud piece or way too much advance in that zone?

We had a similar issue, but with Yamaha 760 electronics, where the zeel was set to 3 lobe but we only had two, or vice versa, can’t remember. It’s worth checking, not sure if the kawi is similar.

Maybe put a timing light on it and make sure your timing is right?

- You can mark the rear coupler and the back of the case with a tdc mark.

-Or cut an old stator cover so you can read your timing on the front of the case. Get a variable curve timing light and just set a flat curve at like 10 or 20 degrees. Hook up to your #1 spark plug.

Also, your rev limit should be between 8000- 9250 depending on your set up; It looks pretty high.

I hope that helps, sorry to hear it's not working out for you.

how many lobe's do you have on your wheel?

Interesting thread. Curious if anyone has any updates. I, too, have had nothing but issues with zeel on my sxr800 and spent ALOT of money chasing things people told me were the culprit. Been fussing with it on and off for a year still no luck. The dealer I bought mine from said he will no longer sell them for Kawi. Lots of issues apparently. Would love to hear from anyone who’s succeeded. Mine would run but timing was way off and had severe blow back. Wouldn’t you know, my crank started making noise and it’s hard to feel like the zeel issues haven’t been to blame.

I had issues with cranking with my zeel. It would kick back during cranking. Bad. It would also be really picky about starting. The very first time I had it in surf it ran for maybe 10 minutes and then gave problems where it wouldn't spark and when cranking would kick back. I let it sit cause I was over it. Came back months later. Motor locked. Rebuilt it all and couldn't find anything wrong. Put it back together and had the exact same issues. Replaced the bendix bushing and that fixed alot of it. I also found the woodruff key sitting on the flywheel when I pulled it off. Nit sure if it had slipped out or came out when I pulled the flywheel this last time. But it still skips the bendix every so often and I attribute it to the zeel. Runs ok though

If you hold the stop button down. And it cranks over normally. You can almost guarantee it's the zeel. That's how I determined it was mine. I played with the dtatic timing to get it absolutely perfect and now it seems to run OK. The spark is INCREDIBLY hot. But who cares if it doesn't happen at the right time.

All in all. I would NOT purchase another zeel ignition.

Was it a 62t zeel or the older type that works with 64x type ignition?

To me it seems like the 64x type should have more reliable timing control...but I dunno.
