remove the fuel filter and see what happens. If no change return the water screw to previous setting. If there is still no difference you unknowingly changed something else. No kinks or leaks in a fuel line?

If the es plugs don't reach the piston then wouldn't they raise the compression by occupying more space?

Doesn't full throttle mean more air less fuel during start up?
