Make sure the splines are clean on both the shaft and impeller. If you use grease it will hydrolock and be a bear to get in all the way. It help to just put steady pressure on it till the splines start then tap it lightly with a 2x4 or hammer. Just make sure the splines start and dont get bent up

I epoxyied on 4 zip tie anchors on both sides and tried to get some epoxy around where the pvc meets the hood. Im hoping it holds, i can pick the hood up with the tubes so it should be fine.

Just about done with it. Really happy with how it looks. Im looking forward to taking it out this weekend. Still gotta pull the motor back out and clean everything and run the pipe of the polishing wheel.
