1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

Lots of algae growth causes the lake to be dirty. Have to keep skis and boats out of the water or it’s terrible on the bottom of them. Haven’t experienced anything in my body from the lake though. But I also don’t inhale water that much. Maybe after I get this ski going I can review that part...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

Will the 61x head produce as much power as the 62t or should I look into aftermarket? Not sure about the dome sizes or if I should even worry about it at all. Thanks for the advice! I was thinking of the 9/15 impeller to start off with. Then put an aftermarket pipe on later and see how it wakes up.

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

Ok so I won’t change the exhaust exit location. That’s settled. I’m about to start tearing into the superjet and wave raider to remove the motors. One question I had, what exhaust bracket solution do you know of for the 62t to fit inside the superjet with a superjet exhaust? I have an...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

No issue really. Just things to consider as I'm building it over the winter. I want to build it up before the season starts. I'm getting ideas on what to do to make sure I don't have to modify too much during the season and get more tray time.

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

I have ridden a 550 with a 701 swap. It has side exhaust. didn't seem too bad but i didn't ride it long or have to deal with the maintenance issues.

OK I think everyone has the idea that I put it in and I really like it. I didn't and I don't care either way lol. The good news is that the 62T has the original choke system on it and that will be going in the ski. Interesting. I will look into that. I originally wanted a side exhaust but I...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

I looked at your thread! Thats awesome! I will start getting into it and definitely hit you up with some questions. What in specific are you referring to as changes you would do differently? Budget explanation is above. Basically what makes sense to have maximum reliability but not unnecessary...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

I already had re-enforcing the hull on my build list. That is probably why no one has mentioned it. I will pay close attention to the side areas and get pics of everything so people can comment/suggest if I'm doing enough.

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

Yeah i'm just going to have to do it and stop complaining about it haha. Past that, I'll pick up the pieces and do everything the right way. I did this twice on a couple of 1997 seadoo GTX's. So I'm used to starting from scratch and re-doing things. Just sucks when people remove parts or put...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

I will take some more pictures of the engine bay to show everyone what I'm dealing with. It isn't too bad but there were some questionable things done to the ski that I will have to go back and fix during this build. I'm mechanically inclined but I am no tech by any means.

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

OK thats what i was thinking. Just dreading all the fiberglass work lol. It will have a 701 62T in it by the end of winter though. So it won't have a 650 anymore! The 701 has 155 compression in each cylinder and i just picked up that 08+ exhaust so hopefully it will just drop right in. The wide...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

I am 6' 155-160 pounds. Thanks for the advice. Right now because of my weight i have a hard time doing tail stands on this and my neighbors X2. The back just won't sink for me without a hard 180. Even then, its hard to get it to stand up. I will try the ride plate and from what i understand from...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

One question though, if i had the trim setup from the wave raider, why wouldn't I want to go ahead and put it in now or at least run the cable/holes for it? While i'm in the tray without the hydroturf on, seemed like a good time to do it so i don't have to rip it up later on. I am for sure...

1990 Square nose superjet build for freestyle

Hey guys! Newer to the standup world but I'm going all in on this build. This ski is one I want to try and keep for a long time, if not forever. So I want to build it right and have it be my work horse. Its a 1990 superjet that is stock currently except an aluminum handpole (factory length)...

1990 Superjet lost acceleration after a small wake jump

That is pretty much what my neighbor said too. Must have spit it out when I started it after I docked it. I have a floating lift so once I got it on the lift I started it to blow out the water and see what the issue was. Must have cleared out from that.

1990 Superjet lost acceleration after a small wake jump

Just to update everyone on the situation, I took off the mid shaft cover to inspect, looked at the mid shaft bearing and housing, jet drive, impeller, and wear ring (while still on the ski) and nothing! Only some small dry rot on the mid shaft housing rubber. I put it back in the water and it...

1990 Superjet lost acceleration after a small wake jump

Hello all! Newbie to standups here. I recently purchased this ski, 1990 superjet. My first standup and first Yamaha. Mostly stock but has an aftermarket ride plate, aluminum pole, aftermarket intake grate. It ran great for about an hour. I was going in a straight line without doing anything...
