Donor ski was a STX 1500 , 50 hours. Big Shout out to Dustin Motz @ FastPowersports who bent some rules to get me the hull and some of the custom parts to South Africa (Quality of the production is RRP level and more). and as always a huge thanks to Jetmaniac who comes through for us every...
Does anyone perhaps know the exact length of the stock driveshaft when the coupler is removed. Tried searching everywhere but no joy yet.
Tks very much
I have used both H2O torrent and Solas pumps on my previous builds so my gut says go with an AM 12 vein setup but my donor ski is minty so I might start with the stock 148 (the motor is 1500cc after all....biggest I had so far is a TPE 1100,) so we shall see. :)....whats your experience on...
Hi there
I followed your build on Youtube for the GP1R and based on that I hit Dustin up and now my hull kit is shipping any day now, as is my donor . So a huge thank you to you for getting me over the line, your content is very much appreciated. I will likely have a few build challenges...
the small gap between stator and impeller limits slippage on hard acceleration...so never an issue unless you want a softer feel..then open the gap with spacers... ...i.e wave riding
I got one a year ago…been riding stand ups for 30years. My best ski is my freak with a tpe1105 Surf and flat water…..so the Jetsurf. Without the pole to help you stay on the board. It comes down to serious skills to be confident in turning and riding on instinct. That’s flat water. In...
best way to teach kids from 5 years old (my experience raising 5 ) is to first limit the throttle with turf rolled close in between the lever and cable tied so it can't get dislodged....so they get 1/4 throttle at best.....then you need to be on a sit down that can "sheperd" them in any...
Piston wash looks very lean...send pics of underneath the pistons...will verify lean issues for sure.
pop off is way too high.....surprised the ski can even rev with no hesitation....get it down to 25 ish..else you lean in mid revs as well.
I have stuck pistons on 75/140 with b pipe (wfo...
Start with suspect leaking needle and seat...to diagnose that ........before you kill the engine open up the gas tank inlet lid to release tank pressure. Wait 10 minutes and try to start it again after closing the gas inlet lid. If it starts up no problem then replace your needle and...
I have been running 140 mains and 75 pilots on my JM 781 dual 38s for a while mostly surf and free stryle....30 psi pop off.......did some WFO runs on a river dash 2 weeks ago and stuck both pistons....evidence shows both cylinders are way too lean at WFO....ski ripped around bouys forever...
Hi Guys
Ok so agree that it must have been seriously lean at WFO and overheated to the soft seizure point ...undersides of both pistons are burned up badly with carbon and the top side of the rear piston is totally black...no piston wash by the transfer ports at all. I suspect the front piston...
Background......Engine is a JM781 dual 38's, prepped by Blue some years ago. It has run flawlessly in both surf and bouy chasing.. We did a river dash around 50 miles 2 weeks ago and every now again we would go WFO for a few minutes and then back off a bit ....just before the end my ski died at...
Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated. All very valid insights. Running rapids has it's risks which is mostly why I'm still on the fence.....failing at the worst of times could end me up losing my rickter entirely. If I could "test" it in a safe environment I would definately run it...
Hi guys
A few of us did a long range river dash a few days ago....full flooded winter river upstream 70 miles with 2 refuel stops... Ski ran very well but the last 10 minutes we were WFO and after running flawlessly (for years) my ski just died. Weather was reaaly cold...8 degrees celcuis. I...
Hi Paul...Thanks very much for your nicely detailed response....I then did a visual on how big the gap between the 61X stator and the 62T flywheel is and its like 5-6 mm. air gap ...certainly enough to cause some kind of timing variation at higher revs most likely ....so I have now located a...
