The one with the OEM box uses the OEM back plate and it utilizes a custom billet middle section that is sandwiched between a piece of clear lexan and billet bezel that goes around the edge. Pretty good idea really.
The other one uses a completely billet back plate.
I have a key that looks the same. Took it out and haven't used it. My assumption was a loose FW nearly shearing it in half. The key isn't there to hold it in place anyway but I like the assurance if the snout bolt ever did loosen up.
I have a cold fusion Ebox and its good too. Solid/clean design and holds up to abuse.. Pricey but worth the investment. On the flip side a well set up OEM Ebox will perform just the same. The piece of mind of being able to see inside is the key.
Good luck john. My first one was all glass and only had gel coat cracks at the pole area. This replacement hull was glass/carbon and it's been rock steady.
Let's flip ur hull over and smooth out the rear chines and add a sport fish ride plate. Make that rear end loose like a circus.
