Building a Tom21 FX1 wondering is there any disadvantages to shortening the stainless exhaust tube for the engine compartment side to compensate for 6” shorter hull? Would like to keep stock flange on exterior for better seal if possible.

I have 2 FX1 ‘s, one came with FX chamber, the other I put a mod chamber on. Only difference is the dimple for the water separator thingy. I never did understand what the big deal was. Also had one with a SJ chamber that fit nicely with the SJ tank, that’s a nice setup!!!

Yes, tubbies will increase stability and are the easiest of the major mods. Next would be widening the tray - and while you have the saw out you might want to put a pump in it, that's a big step though. Maybe a pipe first and make sure your going to stay together!

Ride it a few times before you start buying stuff, figure out what you want it to do before you start just throwing money at it. They are quirky, not everyone falls in love with them!

Moto engine guys are great but DO NOT let anyone work on your cylinders unless they have a PROVEN track record with 701 engines and cylinders, not just hear say either, go to a jet industry professional and save yourself the regrets. Id start with Jet Maniac, again, save the regrets!

I don't completely understand the chemistry of it but its an aftermarket pipe thing, been through it twice. Tried to correct it because it was yucking up my walkway where I flushed it. I use amsoil and I think a cleaner burning oil may help.

I'm in the middle of my pump swap and have fitted it with the stock FX1 nozzle but haven't ridden it yet. Could someone tell me what the ride difference will be between the smaller, longer fx nozzle and the fatter, shorter 144 nozzle? Also, can a bilge suction tube be welded in to the reduction...

Stock FX nozzle fit on but took a little cutting off the sides and chamfering the inside for it to turn smoothly. Any clean way to put a bilge suction line back into the reduction nozzle? My "race oriented" buddy that welded my pump took the stock suction pipe out and filled in the void! Didn't...

great ideas, thanks. I'm still wondering what the ride difference would be of a shorter (superjet) nozzle vs the longer FX nozzle that's cut to fit. May have access to a raider nozzle so might take that route, I've heard of someone else that did that.
