I cant say this is your answer , but we had similar symptoms with irregular erratic spark and replaced the coil and problem solved .

You have to snare a fishing boat , spend some days trolling a grid and really do some'' fish finding'' .. its the only way to possibly find it . Fish finders are your eyes in dark waters . one of the Cleveland crew has to have a BOAT !!! dont give up
