I've got a '13 SJ. You'll definitely want a quick steer turn plate! My '13 wouldn't turn on a dime to save my life without the steer plate. I have the Blowsion ride plate WR314, I like it!

Yes, a little less then 2 miles from the ramp to the open water. In the marina you can't ride the break. So typically the waves are not a big deal. Last Sunday the water was like a flat Lake. I've ridden the oil piers too in Ventura.

Definitely Pismo or Oceanside! Can't go wrong!!!

No worries, sounds good. Sometimes we go for sunset rides on week days after work.

You don't need any permits to ride in the ocean, just need to have your skis registered thru the DMV. There seems to always be riders in Oceanside. Got there at 9am once, parking situation sucked, but good surf.

You'll want to get a spring for that handlepole too, unless you like a sore back :)
