WELL I got the ring gear off the flywheel and looks like there is a very slight lip on the bottom side so it was a real bear to get off. I stacked dry ice on the flywheel and heated the steel ring gear while the whole thing was in the shop press. A little pressure and the gear came right off...

Yea I was going to try the heat freeze method I might even have some liquid nitrogen. ;)

Any more news on this. I'm about ready to install the flywheel, but would like a new ring gear. I hate to install it the way it is. What would happen if I heated the ring gear and spun it about 30%. That would move the pressure to the new teeth. I don't even know it the ring gear is a press fit...
