I tried Manitoulin because I heard they have good prices for hulls. They will only ship cross border for businesses. That turned out to be the case for several shipping companies. Lots of brokers work that way too. It really was a PITA.
Brian at Torrent just called a couple days ago to let me...
Update on my hull being stuck in the states - I got it shipped through Fedex Freight for $300 USD plus had to spend another $200 CAD on a broker. I picked it up from the Fedex terminal in Pickering, otherwise it would have been another $144 USD to have it dropped off at my house. I ended up...
A friend had his under home insurance years ago, but that was probably just fire/theft at the house. I guess if anything happens you could always claim that someone broke into your garage and took it.
I agree that people shouldn't be out there alone, but the OPP gave a statement on the news advising people not to go on the water if not necessary. Not that it was in any way illegal. People can be ticketed for using closed launches, marinas and parking lots. I can't find any other restrictions...
Where's there a bylaw against using your ski? The launches are closed because they're a public facility where people gather. Boating is allowed as long as you're only together on a boat with people you live with.
Yeah I’ll likely pay taxes, but not duties. I just got off the phone with Brian after playing phone tag for a few hours. He makes sure we don’t pay duty’s when he ships up here. He also told me that the shipping price on the website is a computer generated number that is way off and he doesn’t...
I didn’t think we had to pay duties on American made watercraft parts. Unless the recent changes to NAFTA removed those from the exempt list. My hull won’t have duties. I called to make sure of that.
I talked to Brian in an email a while back, but didn’t talk about shipping. I was planning on calling today, but haven’t had the chance yet. My number one priority is figuring out this hull since it’s finished and waiting
The way things are going down there, I can’t see the border opening anytime soon. I’ve waited three months for the hull to be built. I’m not letting the summer go by waiting for the borders to open. The hull is already crated and I’m getting a shipping quote today.
The shipping price on...
Anyone have tips for getting things here from the states? My BAM hull is finished, but is in Michigan. I'm also buying a Torrent pump and trim. Both are 3.5 hours away from me, but since I can't get over the border I'm screwed. Shipping for the pump is going to be $500 and Joe is just about to...
Your cover looks great, but my experience with covers is that it makes things more attractive to mice in the winter. Easier for them to climb too. When I stopped covering my bike, they stopped going in.
I can’t believe I didn’t see this thread until now! Joe is almost finished building me a CF hull. I’m putting my 701 in it for this summer but plan to grab an ET 1107 for next year. This build seems too easy. You’ve put my mind at ease. I just wish I could see my hull. I live close to Engine...
Very nice looking products here! I have a feeling I’ll be buying some of your stuff before long. One suggestion I have is, why not make a mirrored version of those carbs so you have a left and a right carb. The adjustment screws would be to the outside on both, and super easy to fine tune.
