With all due respect to the Ski Clinic guys, the guys I ride with have also had issues with the holds coming loose, and water leakage through the slots. The latter could definitely be a issue with installation so i'm not faulting the mfg. I think its a good idea but could use some refinement...

Thats probably fair money for that rifle, considering the piston operation. I'm not ready to get back in to .223 just yet, 7.62x39 is just too cheap and plentiful still.

I'm seriously reaching, but is your fuel system sealed and holding pressure?? Maybe when you chop the throttle, the lack of pressure doesn't feed the carb and so when you get back on it... Nada. Or you're sucking air at your fuel inlet and when you pinch it, it's pulling more air, so when you...

Its that easy. When I did mine, I replicated the cut that yamaha made on each side to allow the pole to flex into the cast lower. Typically you have to cut the pole flush with the base, then chip, grind and cuss the cut portion out of the base. So the least amount you can shorten it is ~3"...
