One of the most challenging skis to turf is the superfreaks. I got to turf mine when I was building it. I used smooth on the sides to make it easier not having to try to keep the pattern straight and used molded diamond on the tray floor and under the foothold. That definitely made it easier as...
Thankyou. It's not too difficult. Just take your time and measure twice cut once. You can use template fabric to make a template and transfer it to your turf. Cut a little big and start in the same spot for reference so you don't end up cutting too small..also have a heat gun around to heat...
No experience with the rrp foothold but did a set from tigercraft which are basically the same thing. I used 2 pieces of 9mm under padding to wrap around the bottom and 1 layer on top. Then used a cutoff wheel with a scotch Brite pad to shape it. Then used a strip of turf underneath through the...
Using peel ply as a final layer on a hand layup was probably the best advice 8ve been given doing glasswork. Removes air pockets, leaves a nice finish that reduces sanding by at least 50% as well as removes the blush left with the epoxy curing process that must be removed before any further work...
I've ridden a foot rocket that I felt the pole was too long on so that ride didn't last very long haha and I've ridden a reaper. It was fun but not really my thing. Haven't tried a predator. It looks like a great surf ski but a little heavy for a lake ski without big engine power. Svpro same...
The sv1 is another good hull and very comparable in size to the badass -4.3
Also really like the t1 if you can find one. The v3 tigercraft is also close in size but rides a bit different. With some time and tuning for my size either of those hulls are excellent all around boat chasing/surf skis.
Can confirm on older a/m hulls needing glass work.. I bought a 2012 superfreak badass that was actually a glass hull not a carbon which is a big reason I bought it in the first place. I bought it knowing it was a project which I wanted. I had a rockered shortened superjet to ride at the time...
Awesome killer deal. I have a 93 x2 that I got bone stock and eventually put a built 750 in it with a pipe, milled head and a sbn 46. Fun skis. You should be fine to run it out of the water and no hose hookup for 2-3 min or so without revving much. Just touch the front of the head and when it...
you definitely have to be careful with the shorter hulls with the boner airs if youre not sure how shallow the water is. one hit on the bottom and you will blow the nozzle out. i made the mistake of letting someone ride my freak in the surf last year and he darted my nozzle right in the sand...
Have you done a leak down test on the engine before disassembly to verify no air leaks? Or after reassembly? It is absolutely a necessity to do a leak down before teardown to verify there was no air leak anywhere.
I have a friend with a 2022 reaper I believe that came with the 1200kv setup. He recently swapped in a 760 with a tnt lay down pipe and just had to rotate the engine plates and maybe drill and tap a hole or 2 to get his to work. He said it was fairly easy.
