my carriers have been engineered to carry up to 700lbs of tongue weight and tow up to 6500lbs ( pull) . 8 years+ now of building them and not a single issue. Here is a pic of a customer that regularly tows his 24" HTM triple axle trailer from Temecula CA to Lake havasu. ( 4 hr trip)

my carriers have two race car style tabs welded to the main support tube ( right in the center) We use two separate ratchet style straps .. one from tab to front hole of ski, one from other tab to rear hole on ski or ride plate. This way the ratchets are using downward force to keep the ski on...
