i had a 650 sx long ago too. it will feel a lot similar to the sj than a 550 will. the 650 sx would slide a lot and felt more top heavy than a sj. plus your new sj will have gobs more power. once you start with the super jet the possibilities are endless.

Seems to me that you have the means to own a few toys. Ride the super jet, sell everything else and start looking into after market parts that will lighten it and make it handle better. take the carb apart. there is a little filter on the pump side . once you remove the carb you will expose this little 1/4" round filter. remove it and you will likely see what looks like hair in it. clean it with contact cleaner and a sharp poker. if that doesnt work, it may be a crank seal...
