    installing crankcase pulse nipple

Ok Superfreak, thats exactly what I wanted to hear. That Lokctite green 640 is still wet a day later. Maybe because it is an old tube? Anyway, I am going to pull the nipple out and clean and reinsert with the JB Weld. Supposed to be good to 600 degrees. I assume you have had no problems with it...

    installing crankcase pulse nipple

Thanks All! Well I ended up with a slightly out of round hole and pressed the nipple in. I used green Locktite 640 sleeve retainer. The tube of locktite was probably 10 years old so it may not work. It requires 24 hours to reach full strength. So I will check it tomorrow. If it is still liquid...

    installing crankcase pulse nipple

Can I please get some tips on installing a crankcase pulse nipple? I have a 97 roundnose 701 superjet. I am installing a set of 44mm carbs and each has a carb pump with pulse nipple. The oem superjet has only one pulse line from the crankcase at the rear, however there is a slot at the crankcase...

    pop-off gage accuracy test

How can I check the accuracy of my Mikuni pop off gage? I keep it lubricated with castor oil per the manufacturer. I suspect it may be off since the psi reading I get for two new Mikuni 2.3 needle seat and new arms with 65 gram springs is 8 pounds, and the charts say it should be 15 psi. With an...

    float arm sticks open

EGT gage - Exhaust Gas Temperature gage to see if the fuel mixture is lean or rich. I heard there was a combination gage somewhere that both EGT and tach are measured. The float arm had a few sharp edges so I filed them down. I will find out later today if it is still sticking open. Any...

    float arm sticks open

Thanks everyone. The needle seats are mikuni (little square inside a square logo) and they are brand new. The 65 gram with 2.3 was suggested by Riva. That is what they told me comes on their SBN44 8052 dual carbs. They also told me start with pilot jet of 105 and main of 120. I have been given...

    float arm sticks open

Any idea why a carb needle float arm would be intermittently sticking wide open? I noticed it after engine loading up and I pulled the carb diaphragms off to inspect. This just started on a 2.3 NS I recently purchased new. I used it with a 65 gram spring. It springs back up as soon as I touch...

    Jetting question

I have a 97 round nose superjet with factory B pipe. I am replacing the stock 38mm carbs with 44mm sbn mikuni carbs from a yamaha 760. What jet sizes should I be using? What weight pop off spring? The 701 motor is ported, lightened flywheel, msd ignition enhancer, 195 compression with west coast...

Freestyle maximum compression for 91 and 93 octane gas

Thanks to all. I read the http://www.2strokeheads.com/tech2.htm link. I guess this is a lot more complex. It did force me to take a closer look at the two motors. The lower compresion motor cylinder is 1/2 inch taller and head (PSI Racing Genesis II Type 2SJ) is another 1/2 inch taller the the...

Super Jet Keihn carbs any better than Mikuni?

Oh, the Keihin carbs are metalic blue, so I assume they are 42mm? I don't know the stock Mikuni mm off hand.

Super Jet Keihn carbs any better than Mikuni?

Will I get any more power with Keihn "Sudco" CDK-II 1-708 dual carbs than the stock dual Mikuni carbs on my 97 superjet round nose with 701 motor? I have another older 1991 SJ square nose hull with a 701 dual carb motor that was once used for racing that had these Keihn carbs. Even though that...

Freestyle maximum compression for 91 and 93 octane gas

What is the maximum compression I can use for 91 and 93 octane gas, assuming I don't change the timing? I have a 97 Yamaha Superjet with 701 motor and TNT pipe, etc. I use it for low end work, freestyle riding. I curently have 195 pounds of compression and run 91 octane gas. I'm using a...
