Lower end is in and couplers aligned. Got the ski painted and hood painted, ebox mounted, steering cable hooked up, and nose mounted. Waiting on some elbows to get the exhaust in and then I can mount the tank and route the fuel. We’re getting there!
Been a long time, bought a house so things slowed down. Dug the project put and started getting things back together. Really just looking to get this thing on the water this summer, and upgrade all the crap later. Got the turf on and it’s a 5/10 job. Will do it a lot differently next time I...
Got the footholds roughed in, will put another 4-5 layers on them so they’re rock solid, and obviously carry that across the tray as well. Shooting for at least 60oz of total biax layup. Goodbye resin lol
Feel free to ask anytime. What worked best for me way to paint a thin coat of resin onto the sanded glass, let it soak and start to gell up, then smear on the resin/micro balloon filler. That way it bonds in well to the resin, and you can mix the filler a little thicker avoiding runs, etc.
Yessir! Just don’t go crazy sanding the glass, only knock down high spots and fill from there. I spent $20 on a gallon of micro balloons and that filled my entire bondline, all my repairs, the tunnel work and I still had some leftover. Goes a long way
I used micro balloons and epoxy resin as my “body filler.” That way there’s no guessing how it’ll bond, and you can vary the thickness of it as you like depending on what ratio you mix the balloons in. Stuff dries hard as a rock, and sands easy. There’s other products out there that achieves the...
Got a buddy with an r and d girdled head setup for a 701 and racegas that I was wondering if domes we’re still available for it? I want to run it on a pump gas 760, and didn’t know if those domes could be recut for my application or the whole head shell is different and won’t work at all. Can’t...
Finally started in on the tray. Debated doing the footholds or just going wide tray and decided I’d spend the time now and do holds. Lake Michigan isn’t 50* here anyways so I have time. Layed out foam, draped some twill over it to get the shape right and wet it out. This will be followed up with...
About a 1/4” gap, and the profile is a tad different. Not sure if it will matter, this plate will be D cut and chopped to sit over a 155. On a stock sj it’d be just a bead of silicone and run it. Bolt holes / plate width are dead on
Sweet, I’ll pick one up tonight and snap some pics. Should be able to egg the plate holes a little and shove it forward another 1/8” and silicone the rest
Heard the plates bolt up, and are the correct width, but leave a gap up front by the pump shoe. Anyone have a pic of how bad the gap is? Thinking about using one for a project and was just curious. Thanks
