I would reach out to Chris. He is always so helpful with stuff like this. I got a SBT crank from him last year and the problem we found was the large SBT C clip holding the bearing would not fit in the cases. Luckily I had the old OEM crank and Chris told me to swap c clips and everything...

My theory is that there’s no load on the engine when it’s out of the water and the ski can run off of one carburetor. The fuel and the air is all mixed in the case but there’s just not enough of it to power it in the water when it’s under load.

I just did a rebuild after 10 years on my sn superjet. It’s got the usual set up of Factory Pipe, ADA head, MSD enhancer etc. I’m running dual 46 mm Mikunis. I broke it in for an hour last weekend then switched out the plugs and ran a tank through it. It ran perfect. I got a solid 3 hours...

Before I learned of the solid 3961, I use to hit the top threads with some red 271 Loctite. I had a few come loose. Steve

The shaft is rusted in so I will need to use my bearing press but I want to make sure this won't damage it. I know this has to be a common problem so I was hoping someone would chime in with their experience.

Well I rode for a whole year with rusted bearings and now I am ready to replace them. I pulled the whole UMI steering apart except for the 2 bearings and the shaft. Can someone please tell me how to remove the shaft and get the bearings out?? Thanks, Steve

Sounds like the low speed adjuster is set to lean. Turn it out 1/4 a turn and see if that helps

Look for a corroded and broken ground wire. We had one that was split inside the black sleeve coating and the only way we found it was by flexing the ground wire to find the small crack in the sleeve. The wire was shot.
