How much weight gain can you expect doing an 1100 swap. Thinking of throwing one in my Trinity hull. What all is needed to make this swap. I rode one and it ripped!

about 35 to 45 lbs depending on exhaust and ebox used.
go like stink with a ported limited setup and still have a reliable engine

If youa re going Kawi 1100, it’s only about 30 lbs. Perfect set up for bouys because it’s easy power that will last forever because the motor isn’t even working to push a ski hull. It can still be played in surf, but the extra motor weight can be rough on mounts. I lake rode mine and jumped plenty of waves, but it will never be mistaken for a free ride ski. If you need help with the set up, let me know. There is a huge difference between an 1100 conversion that is set up right and one that is just dropped in.

Will feel like you are back on a stock hull with stock engine. Dont frt me wrong. It wi fly but heavy and tend to require more maintenance.
Could not disagree more. My Sxr 1100 with only a high comp head made a stock 800 feel like a pig. I was surprised at how well the 1100 jumped waves too. Although that wouldn’t be my choice for a “wave boat” it’s deffinitely way better than you guys are making it out to be.

dj, if i were you I’d keep it light and maybe get some more bolt one instead of a triple.

I am looking at it from the type riding DJ does. It would not be a good setup. Floor Lake Ripping and Bouy busting. All day long.

Does sliding the engine back further in the hull help negate some of the felt weight of these triples? A gp 760 midshaft slides a yamaha triple back one inch, 1200 couch shafts are even shorter. That paired with a firewall tank I would think you could get the center of balance about the same. Add a bunch of light parts and you may be able to shave a lot of the added weight back off.

Or by the time you do all that it may have been cheaper to build a twin.

You need carbs, ignition, and Ada head for an 1100 to really come alive. It getd kind of pricey when you add it up. I was gonna put one in a s.j. and this is what I was told by very reputable racers that I trust.

Head Bang................... This is a freeride hull he is wanting to do this to. It will make plenty of power. But like Scottie mac said. This will be hell on the motor mounts. I would go for more power from a different route. Even if it means converting to a Yamaha based powerplant. Honestly, BB what he has with a good port job.

I laugh every time someone says an 1100 CAN'T jump.

With all that power it will launch, but that doesn't mean you should do it. If you do, like people have said you will have motor mount issues and break exhaust parts.

I agree with you I prefer twin motors. The weight of the 1100 and other factors caused me to sell the motor I had before really getting into the engine swap

Depends on if you are talking 1100 kawi or Yamaha. The kawi 1100 works really well with the stock 97-98 non cv carbs. And, you don’t need an ignition, just the timing advance plate. Plus, the stock head can be cut. It’s a fairly cheap swap. Judge has a stock carb set up with minimal cylinder work that will run low 60s. Plus, the stock non cv carbs are very good on fuel.

That's not too bad. I was under the impression the stock carbs we'rent easy to adjust. And the guys giving the adivce were Looking at it from a gp class perspective.

However, amost every 1100 I see has the parts I mentioned on it.

Here is a pic of our 1100 with the stock non cv carbs that Scottie was talking about. Judge did his magic to the 1100 and set up the carbs. They work awesome.

If you are talking GP racing, no doubt, stock carbs are throw-aways. But for play skis and running bouys on a budget, they work really well.

Yup! You can jump a Mack Truck too......................

But is that really the point DJ is looking to hear?

I think he's looking to hear and get info on doing an 1100 swap. I believe my posts on this thread added info to that discussion, did yours?
