I did....and all went well. I was just wondering if the second clip should be tight up against the bearing. It is not...just a tiny gap.

I'll tell ya what though after investing in this press and replenishing my map gas this job ain't so bad at all.

I'll be doing them from here on out after all! LOL.

The gap is intentional. The interference fit holds the bearing in place, the clips are essentially just a locator and backup.

If you have press do you really need the hot and cold process
An aluminum housing could gall if the fit was a little tight. Even with a press I would warm the housing a little and use grease, any heat will loosen the fit. Im not sure how much heat the rubber mid will take so some kind of light press is ideal. Bearings and shafts can be tapped in if you use a mandrel and are careful.

A good rule of thumb for natural rubber and basic elastomers is to not heat them up past 185F or you can start to degrade the mechanical properties. Generally synthetics can go higher, but 185F will keep you safe.

so a small torch to heat the pump cylinder and you grease the bearing and you put it with a press
That is my plan....I am trying to get the rest done today!

And like it was said up there ^^...a little heat on the long shaft bearings and they fall right on to the long shaft super easy.

Along with the 12 ton press, snap ring pliers, and a propane or map gas torch, and grease and paper towels of course, this is all ya need unless you just use ovens and freezers! As much as I dislike this particular job I am very glad I can now do it myself pretty quickly...20211002_163413.jpg20211002_163446.jpg20211002_163602.jpg
