1991 650 Carb/Fuel problems

I'm thinking it could be pop off which I haven't tested since I don't have a tester but I'm going to go get one tomorrow. I am sure that the carb was put back together correctly as I took my time and ensured it all all correct.

I'm confused. It sounded like you had a choke plate on your carb? Do you also have a primer plumbed in? If so. I would totally delete the primer and just use the choke for starting the ski.

If you ride at 1/4 throttle for say 20 seconds ds. And then hammer it open. If it dies. Like shuts off. It's lean in the mid/top. If it stumbles and powers through. Your rich in the top/mid. If it pulls right on through. Your good

Unfortunately it just has the primer and has the choke disconnected but left wide open. If I pump in the primer at full throttle it will rev up to full throttle but only for a short burst

Basically your jetting is way off, whether it's not a big enough pilot jet , main jet and or wrong popoff spring I can't say because I am not there working on it, everyone needs to know what the popoff is and what jets are in the ski before making any more recommendations

Got no idea what he needs to do. Start from square one is what is do. But once it's running. That's how mikuni says to test the mid to top end. And how I've always done it. And what works for me. If it's rich you can turn screw or adjust jets. Same with kean. If you gotta go more than 2 turns one way or the other, go up or down that way a size in jetting. Depending on what thread adjusters your have that is.

I was just confused about the primer and choke combo

Sorry about the confusion.

The choke is completely disconnected and there is no cable or a choke pull. The choke plate is still attached to the carb but is in the always open state.

It has a primer with a tee connector on the on fuel line before the fuel switch which works fine and pulls fuel out of the tank no problem.

The spring I had in the carb was at about 70 psi for pop off.

After changing it for one with 25 psi it is actually able to sustain full throttle but now it's just a pig and doesn't accelerate or get to its max rpm. I believe now it has to do with high and low springs which admittedly I know very little about tuning so I'm going to watch a few videos and try and figure it out.
