1997 Waveblaster 2 Oil Lines

Hey everyone long time lurker, new member here. I just picked up a 1997 Waveblaster 2 (teal one 760 dual carb). This thing is pretty clean! Seems to have very low hours impeller looks brand new, bottom of hull still shiny teal gelcoat with only a couple chips here and there. Head bolts never been off seems to have very low hours. It lived at a vacation house and probably didn’t get used much. Test ride went great I love it so far. It will compliment my wife’s 1995 Waveventure (701 dual carb) perfectly. My question is about the oil injector lines. I want to keep the oil injection for sheer convenience. It’s not the pump that fails it the lines that pop off from shrinkage that fail. And man oh man the lines on this blaster were shrunk up!!! The original ones were so tight and pulling off the nipples. Dodged a bullet on that one haha. Anyway I replaced them with 3/32 Tygon lines and put the Yamaha check valves back in place, bled the lines and they’re flowing oil again. Is 3/32 the correct size lines? Not much info on what size to use. They fit on perfect nice and snug and the ID of the hose was a match. Just curious if I used the right size for piece of mind before I go out in the water again!! Thanks everyone seems like a great forum here. Here’s some pics of the Blaster 2!! Enjoy

If the lines are tight, they should be fine.

We do stock OEM primer line which is better than Tygon quality.

Thanks for the reply. When I say tight I should clarify. I meant they had shrunk up so much that the lines had no slack left and were starting to pull off the nipples. The lines were so hard they pulled off extremely easy. Also what is primer line?

Ok cool thanks. I guess my biggest question is what size is it? The official Yamaha part for the oil line hose doesn’t tell you the size. I’ve read a few places that it’s 3/32” ID line. But nothing official. When I pulled the old hard worn out oil line off the ID seemed to match the new 3/32” line.

Ok everyone update on the oil injection line ID size. I could not find any official documentation anywhere on what the OFFICIAL size is for 760 oil lines besides eBay and Amazon saying that the hoses “fit”. 3/32 ID seemed to be the consensus but I needed hard confirmation so I bit the bullet and ordered (overpriced) genuine Yamaha oil lines from Babbitts for a Blaster 2 760cc. The ID size is indeed 3/32. So if this helps anyone in the future there you go. The OD dimensions of the OEM Yamaha line is slightly thicker than yellow Tygon 3/32 ID but that really doesn’t matter. And if anyone is wondering why I don’t just go to premix? Yea that’s an option but I want the sheer convenience of pulling up to the gas station or a marina gas station and not having to mix gas on the spot in 115 degree AZ summer heat. As long as you replace and check the oil lines religiously I feel like it’s an extremely reliable system. Anyway just a bit of info if it helps anyone. I know this is pretty much a standup forum primarily but these same engines are common across the board and I’m also getting a stand up soon for sure lol.
