1st ski suggestsions or recomendations?

I agree with these guys......Don't by the 750 either!!! Again unless it's like $500 or something.
Otherwise, for a little over a grand you can probably find a 650 SuperJet. The SuperJet is a MUCH better platform to start on. Better yet, for about $1,500 you can probably find a SuperJet '94 or newer with a 701. It will be much faster and better than a 750 kawi for freestyle and tricks.

I must admit zOOm has a pretty sweet looking 650 there though!
I had 2 Kawi 650's before I bought my first superjet. I had lots of fun learning on them, but knowing what I know now, there is no comparison.

My first stand up was a 650sx and I thought it was great. I had nothing else to compare it to as there were only 2 other standups on my lake and they were both 650SXs. Last spring I decided to drop the coin on a RN superjet. My first thought was "WOW, what a ski". The SJ is superior in every way. I bought Danceswithsuperjet's old race ski so he can tell you how it is. Now I only ride the 650 if I am fixing or tuning it, other than that it is the GF/guest ski.

If the 650 is very cheap I would say get it and learn on it. Then you can keep it for a guest ski. Just do yourself a favor and don't ride anyones SJ until you are ready to buy one. Once you ride one the 650 will not look the same.

Off topic:
You guys need to stop using the term "dirt cheap" I just bought $6000 worth of the stuff. Trust me, there is nothing cheap about dirt.

If the 650 sx is a very good price i would get it to learn on. That is what i did. I bought an 89 650 for about $575. Stuck another $50 into it and was able to sell it to a buddy for $600 at the end of the year. Now i am in the final stages of installing a 61x 701 into my 92 square nose that i bought. So when it comes time to sell the kawi you should be able to get most of what you bought it for back. Its your fisrt time riding a standup ski, you shouldnt need anything flashy or expensive to start on.

550's require constant work to keep running!!!! especially those old ('90 and older)piston port motors. thats about 800-1000 dollars too much

I agree. Don't spend that much money on that combo. You can pick up a SuperJet for around 1k if you look. I see them quite often for under $1,500.00. Don't buy those skis you'll be sorry I promise.

Don't buy a 650 sx, you will waste your time. I bought one, had it for about a month and sold it to buy my superjet. I have a 96 kawi 750 sxi, that is like brand stinking new. But i got that, and a magic tilt galvanized trailer for $1200. There are good deals out there, you just gotta find them. Square nose sj's are great, and i'd look for one of those to get you throught this summer. And then save all winter and buy a roundie, then turn the square into the guest ski. Yami makes a great motor, you you shouldn't have to dunp much money into it if its running good when you buy it.

look for 2 650 superjets for $1000 each, then.

or

let the other person in your family buy their own ski. let them get the crappy kawi and wish they had your SJ.

kawi 650s and 750s blow azz.

yeah, you might have fun on them for a while, but ultimately, youll find that you shouldve listened to what you were told.

i dont know how many different people you need to tell you the same thing. maybe it doesnt matter..... just spend your money on whatever you think will make you happy.

A 650 SN is light years better than a SX. How much are you looking to spend?
