SXR 2008 SXR Upgrade ?'s

Leaving the racing scene, but keeping the SXR because I love it. Ride Lake Michigan alot now, so looking at a few upgrades. My ski has everything a stock class can add according to IJSBA, re jetted carbs/Flame arrestors, cutback prop, bars, r&d exhaust sleeve, tbm plate., hot products timing advance plug, etc. I am in a debate with myself over what mod to do next. Being in college, money is tight! So I am saving up for either an aftermarket pole, either RRP or something else and a Wetpipe. I know the Stock SXR pole is very prone to breaking, and I am shocked with as hard as ride my SXR my pole is still intact. I want both the pole and pipe, but they're so expensive I have to choose one. I'm afraid I'll spend the money on the pipe and then the pole will break lol.

ANybody have any input on what I should do first?

Also, what are some free weight reduction mods for the SXR? I have removed the tool kit and the styrofoam surrounding it in behind the pipe.

Get your flyywheel lightened by #ZERO, inexspensive and you will feel the difference. Then get a used wet or dry pipe. Pole should hold up if it has held up this long. Maybe go back to the stock ride plate to bring the nose up a little.

Thanks for the input on the flywheel, that will be something for me to do in the winter. I know Cannibal has a wetpipe on here that has caught my eye and im a couple hundred short of being in range for it, but I'm selling 2 running 650 motors and all my stashed up 650 parts so I think financially at the end of the night I can afford one! I have the stock plate still but I really like my TBM one, even in the waves on Lake Michigan. The plate I have has added cut outs in the front as well to make it carve harder. I just hated sliding around on the stocker when turning.

Get the wetpipe... I have a 2008 as well and my pole is fine and Ive put my ski through some hard times. My ski really woke up with the pipe, I couldnt imagine it without the extra power anymore.

Thanks. I'm leaning toward the pipe because the RRP is so darn expensive. I guess I could always buy a cheap stock pole if mine broke. How much better low end does the 800 have with the wetpipe? Was the install easy? And do I need any other mods to run the wetpipe? I know I have to re jet

my xscream setup with steering was around $825. Looked great on my sxr and now have in on my Q8.

I got the handpole from fast elements, then got the steering system from xmetal.

I have the RRP cause thats what the previous owner put on but if I were gonna buy it would be X Metal. Looks better and made in USA. Pipe and flywheel are really gonna help and if on a budget would do them first.

Why was yours $825? On X Screams site it says I can get the pole, chinpad, breather tube, Kawi Pole bushings, Kawi steering cable clamp for $645 w/o shipping. ANd it says I must use the OEM steering bracket? SO could I get away with only $645 to run this pole? It does say requires aftermarket steering kit, but if I have hot products bars am I good?

Pipe first! I would go with wet, seen 3 drys crack.
Flywheel cutting by Zero would make a huge difference in low end...not IJSBA legal, but works great!

You can always put on a Stock SJ pole if you break it. I would also go with the XMetal when you get around to a real pole. Much lighter and cheaper than an RRP. You want weight reduction, right????

Weight reduction:
Look up SXR hood mods first on the X!
Cut out all excess glue.
Remove EBox bracket and mount to hull.
Cut back your rideplate for a lighter feel (brings the nose up for jumping)

I've started doing the cutting glue. When I remove the ebox bracket, does the ebox just mount to the same bolt holes as the bracket had? So basically you're eliminating the bracket and mounting straight to the hull

I just estimated when i put the price on there....ballparked high if anything. when they say aftermarket steering kit, i believe they mean all the bearings and turnplate...etc. I know my stock stuff would not have worked on the setup i have. Im not sure what steering kits work or dont work on the setup. I just went xscream all the way :usa2:

sorry to thread jack a little here
