Also can you wait to long for the cement to tack up? Like 20 mins is good but 30 is too long? Outside temp of 70*.

In my experience, it will stick even if you wait an hour or more. If think its dried to much, you can reactivate it with another coat of glue. Some say that two layers is the best way... I.E. putting down glue, then letting it tack, and then adding ANOTHER coat on top of that and letting it tack also is stronger than just one layer. Seems like overkill to me, but if you have trouble you can try it.

As far as gluing too much, don't sweat it. You can peel the turf up and clean the excess glue off with adhesive remover. Its not permanent.
Remember, its 'contact cement' so the strong bond is where you have glue on two separate surfaces that has 'tacked up' and you stick them together. Thats where the strongest bond happens. You may already know that, but if not...

i did 1 coat on the painted/glass/hard surface and 2 on the turf(at least around the edges)... if you're doing foam then turf, do 2 on foam for sure... it seems to soak it up pretty good... and as said, it can be removed really easy if only 1 surface has cement... if i was to glue it then trim it, start with glue on the bottom and work to the top where it rolls the edge of the top, don't do the top at the same time... then you can roll it over and cut it to fit then glue the rest to the edge... if that makes sense... your edges are the critical points though, glue them down good... also, the can says anything over 2 hours at 70 degrees needs to be reactivated with another coat... basically when the "wet" look is gone, you're good to go...

Thanks for the input fellas. Bein getting after it this weekend. First time turfing but so far i think its turned out pretty good. Yall can be the judge haha. Its been a pain in the ass though, like everyone says be patient and dont have any other plans. I prob did it the long way to but wanted to try and make it look legit. Glued the front of the sides down first and then just heated to pre-mold, then glued down in sections. Check the progress

Well fellas its fiiiiiinally done, haha. Took me a while to get things done b/c i didnt have a chance to spend a whole wknd working on it and turns out turf really does take a long time to try and do right. For doing turf for the first time i think overall it came out pretty dang good.

looks good... i was thinking about doing the orange/black turf with factory decal set, but after seeing this I'm kind of glad I didn't.. nothing personal I just like how I did green/black and repaint a bit more... I'll post up a pick later this week, sounds like the ice might finally melt off the lake, they say 70's for the weekend..

Thanks, it took about 1.5 sheets. Have a decent amount left over but then again i cut the sides pretty big to trim to fit.
