Other 2013 Superjet?

Does anyone know the fate of the long lived king of stand up's? Will there be a 2013? Will the look/design change at all?

I for one have been seeing a huge surge of stand up interest lately. At the lake there has been more stand up than sit downs. Superjets are becoming harder and harder to find on Craigslist. The price of used are also getting higher (I bought my first RN for much less than I can find any at today).

I was talking to a guy who bought a 2012 at my local lake (there is 3 local 2012 owners Ive met now). He bought the SJ without ever riding a stand up before. He was telling me about the dealer he purchased the ski from in Denver. He said he was 4 of 16 in line, and it took him 3 months to get the ski.

All i have heard is that stand ups are a dead breed. Kawasaki stopped making their stand up last year and this year is supposedly the last year for the superjet. The reason i heard is that the engines dont meet EPA requirements any morr and there isnt enough interest in stand ups..... america is the land of the fat, lazy couch rider! But of course this is all non official but the yamaha dealer in town told me that its his underdtNding as well that this is thr last year.

Ya i just snagged a 2012 about a month ago and it was the only one in the whole DFW area that i could find. Supposedly there were like 3 times the number of orders for them than produced. I was lucky.

I will tell you one thing I couldn't find a 2011 last year. Only option I found was having Brian at Thrust ship me one in crate. I ended up going with a 2010 display model luckly the dealer had two and mine was stuck in the corner so no scratches. They say they don't sell BUT everyone that I know who has tried to get a new one these past two years have had a hard time finding one local.

This beauty was sitting up at interstate cycle in Cornelius, nc. (near lake Norman) I had a nice long talk with the salesman about it. He seemed to believe that this wouldn't be the last we would see of them. I hope not! This one sold for 8500 which I think was a great deal! As sad as it would be to see them no longer being produced I have faith in the sport and the patrons of the sport. We have so many good members here on the forum that love the sport and love their skis even more. Also there is a great base of aftermarket dealers and every day we are seeing more and more a.m. hulls being produced. I may have the fear that the skis may no longer be mass produced by Yamaha or Kawi but I have no fear that this sport is doomed and that there won't be a fresh supply of used skis in almost mint shape to scoop up and ride. I'll ride till I'm in a wheelchair... A little bit of a rant but my .02...

The sport is going to wake up in about a year or two. Yamaha and Kawasaki will follow close behind.

8500 a good deal for a SJ? That is insane...I bought my sxr new in 06 for 6100 OTD. It is a sad fact but the OEM's are not going to produce a fun 2 stroke stand up ever again. Look at MX, Yamaha, ktm, husky are the only manufactures making 2 strokes...yamaha has done zero r&d since 2005, leaving husky and ktm to keep up with the times. The demand is huge, and the 2 stroke bikes are sold out months in advance. But Kawasaki, suzuki, Honda could care less, And it is apparent the two stroke is a dying breed....sucks, but it is the way it goes.

For a hard to find ski yes. In todays market yes. If that is what you are after and you want a brand new ski in 2012 yes... It is insanely high for such a small boat but it's price and demand. Back in 2006 all skis cost 2-3k less than this but then again they were still being produced at a higher rate.... If you had the very last brand new 2012 in a crate a year from now what's stopping you from charging 15k for it. It's all Ab price and demand and what the buyer is willing to pay.

I just picked up my 2nd empty 09 Hull for a smoking low price. Dasa and Mag ready to drop in.
I got everything with this hull that I would have kept if had bought a whole ski. Not gonna use a stock pump or motor anyway. Would have been 7 k worth of spare parts I didn't need

I was in a sea doo dealership yesterday talking with the guy t the counter who decided to inform me that the 2 stroke engine is a piece of junk that is a waste of time to put money into or even ride...... If I had a brick in my hand, it would have been in his face....

THE 2013 Superjet will be Carbon, -7 inches shorter, wider, and delivered with stock 1000cc engine choice of builder, adjustable footholds, handholds, new style pole ( basically like RRP, or choice x-metal look alike, MAG 150 Pump and LED lights along sides and pole.....just ...mmhhh.....Superjet ?

It's funny because all the snowmobile makers are constantly coming out with new and improved 2 strokes. Stock 800cc sleds nowadays come with 165hp stock with pv and high compression ratios. Skis would be the same if there was demand for it. I think that the lack of demand and support for this sport has allowed the EPA to tighten regulations with comparatively little effort.

8500 is still the cheapest new jet ski you can buy considering the sitdowns go for 13k and up now. I got my 2010 SJ as a leftover in 2011 for 6200.

20 years of stand up
I have to agree with the statement about stand-up's possibly "waking up", at least in my area. I've ridden on the same local river for 20 years, most of the time I would never see any other stand-up's - mabey 1 or 2 other ones the whole summer. The last 2 years I've noticed a definate increase in the number of stand-up's on the river, and this year I've seen the most I've ever seen - even the first girl I've ever seen riding one here.

Including myself there's at least 8 of us riding stand-up's this season that I can think of, which is still actually kind of sad since the county we live in has over 300,000 people.
