Other 2013 Superjet?

Ya i have a 2012 superjet but i had to wait a month for mine also. when i originaly went to go buy one they sold them all out i even drove another two hours to another dealer but by the time i got there it was sold. then a month later some dude faulted and couldnt buy the ski so i drove 5 hours to go pick it up down in arizona. when i was loading it up i had a dude offer me 10 grand for the ski 1,000 over mspr. but the rumor has it that ya yamaha is going to make a 2013 they got away with it becuase they slapped a closed course sticker on them, like they did for the 2012 and since there was such a demand im sure they will jump all over making an extra dollar.

I still don't understand how people are getting a State Registration sticker on the 2012 model's, by what I read they weren't supposed to be allowed to be Registered for use on public waterways (other than for closed course competition)?

ya i dont know my ski is registured in arizona and i live in california, but i just had my dad go down and registure it for me. the dmv didnt even ask. maybe they just dont know and do it anyways.

Im with icecooled... northern colorado has gotten alot more stand up riders out at boyd especially this last year. I always watched out for x2's last year and there were only 3 others besides mine the whole summer. This summer we are only half way through the season and I have seen 6 plus mine out at boyd! I was at the lake on the 4th and I think stand ups almost out numbered the couchs out there. I definetly think stand ups will come back and be more popular than couchs in 5 years.

Same here, So far this year i have seen about 10 stand-ups at the lake and last year i only seen maybe 2 all summer. I sure hope they get more popular because i hate riding around all those couches.

I think that the lack of new skis selling from dealers the last ten years is because yes the price is very high for a standup. If your just getting into the spot would you spend 8500+ for a standup or 7000 for a base line stidown? They are the ones to blame for the lack in new sales. In 04 I got my first sxr for 5200 otd. After that they started pricing themselves out of the market. They could find a way to make it work they just don't want to. And i think the rec riders have exploded in the last 10 years. 15 years ago when I had my 550 in the average summer I might have seen 10-20 other standups every year. When I saw another standuper we would both stop and talk about our skis and exchange numbers. On the other side yesterday I saw about 20+ other riders. So the demand is there but your average weekend rider can't afford 8500 for a new ski!!!!!

when the 96 sj came out the price was around $5k. 2007 it was $8k. with sticker modifications and chin pad color changes as the only upgrades its sad. 5k for a new ski is doable. but when the price is approaching the price of an economy car its hard to justify for a teen/20 year old person. The new sj is priced for and old man with kids on there way out the door.

You guys are seeing what you want to see. I see it too, looks like tons of standup riders everywhere. The sad truth is that for every standup they sell they probably sell 50 couches. Its been that way for a long time. Its just business.

idk .... while I see your point tshank123 I think I have to disagree.

Today I was out riding jumping a wakeboard boat when the boat stopped and called me over. When I came over the guy was asking me "DO you know where you can buy one of those?"

I told him the local Yamaha dealer and he said he was going to go get one next weekend.

Ive never had that happen befroe, and this is not the first time I have had it happen this summer.

By the time he makes it to the dealer "if he actually goes", they'll probably have a few couches sold already. Sux, but like tshank123 said, the sales in couches are way higher than stand ups by far.

Well if your point is that they sell more standups then sitdowns then why not get out of the market all togather and make cars. The ratio of cars to skis is great. And its not really a standup to sitdown comparison is VERY flawed. There are many different lines of sitdowns that yamaha puts out and only one line of standup. I bet the if you put the superjet up against the top of the line yamaha sitdown it would be close. The reasion is the epa limits Tue amout 2 stroke lines any maker can have.

It's funny because all the snowmobile makers are constantly coming out with new and improved 2 strokes. Stock 800cc sleds nowadays come with 165hp stock with pv and high compression ratios. Skis would be the same if there was demand for it.

My dad and i were just talking about this, he bought a skidoo 800 snowmobile and its makes a ton of power! I would love to have something like that in my ski!

Why dont you just walk into your local dealer and ask them how many people are interested in standups vs. sitdowns? Like I was saying, business is business. A dealer has a finite amount of space, and when a standup sits on his showroom floor for 4 months he does not feel compelled to stock them when the sitdowns outsell them 10 to 1. Dont tell me that you cant even get a 2012 SJ without getting on a waiting list, I know that, but its not a valid comparison. The 2012 SJ is a different situation. This trend of standups vs sitdown sales has been going on for many years.

Just FYI, i bought a 12 about a month ago and had no trouble getting it tagged and registered in TX. The salesman i bought it from did mention he was suppose to check but couldn't have cared less. Got my stickers and registration put on before last weekend no problem.
I have to agree that this sport is reviving. I have seen it all over texas in the last 5 years i've been riding i'm no longer the only stand-up guy out of most lakes.

The Superjet hasn't gone up in price, the US dollar has gone down in value since 1996.

1996 Superjet MSRP $5,799.
2012 Superjet MSRP $7,999.

$5799.00 is the same as $8359.00 in 2012 US dollar value. I got this number from a currency value program i found online.

Wow. So the dollar has lost 44% of its value since 96? Just curious, can you tell us how much value its lost since 2008? Just an abritrary year. :)

if it was the last year yamaha would have said something like kawi did cause they want them to sell, my friend just got the 2012 and registered it no problem

I really don't think that's true (at least in my area) when i got my 04 sxr the I put a down payment on it at a boat show in Feb. The dealer said that kawasaki would only let him order 4 i went there on the secound day and I was 3rd to order one. Went back later that week and all the kawasaki dealers were sold out for the year(in Feb). Some told me they could trade to get one from out of state dealers but itwould drive the price up.

In 2010 when i got my 2nd sxr I had to drive 300 miles because that was the closest ski to me. It was late May and all the dealers within 300 miles already sold out for the year or had them priced well over the msrp because they knew they could get it. The only way I found mine was because it was at a poontoon dealer who also sold quads. So no one ever went in there to buy skis. The guy said he ordered it thinking it would take for ever to sell but he wanted it for a cool floor pice and was very shocked it sold so soon. Bottom line is standups move!!!! If you take a look at old stock they are all sitdowns.
