Super Jet 2013 Superjets

I'm hoping to move to Perth, AU, after I graduate next year, so the superjet being sold internationally would be a good thing :) Although with the cost of things in Australia I've heard it may be cheaper just to bring my own.

I see the appeal the rn. I think the sales have dropped a lot because of all the after market hulls that are out there . You can pick up a built gen 2 for the price of a new sj. They are pricing them self out of the market. $8000+++ for a sj is outrageous.

Production has been tapering off for many years before aftermarket hulls starting taking off. Mostly due to emissions.

You can thank the economy for the boom we are now seeing in aftermarket hulls as many of todays builders came from other markets that dried up.

New to the site, so hey. Been looking at getting a PWC for a little while, and always wanted a stand up over the sit down type. Sorry I don't know all the terms yet. So I started looking at the Super Jets and just realized how hard they are to find. Just noticed that the 2013 models are up on Yamaha's site, and the Super Jet is there, for $8199 MSRP.

That's great news!

Yeah the 2012 model says the same thing. I talked to a few different dealers, and they said there isn't an issue with registering them, at least in MD, and VA.

I'm assuming, at least from what I read, that this is essentially the same ski as the 08-12, except the new graphics. So essentially the 12 with a higher price tag.

i like the black and orange, i just don't like keeping waterspots off the black... that's why i am painting mine as soon as the snow flies..

I'd be lost without the x
So is paying close to retail or slightly over with fee's and such common? Anyone know of a decent dealer in the Northern VA, MD area for getting one of these?

I think I paid about $500 below invoice in June 2008 for a 2008. A Yamaha SJ cover was thrown in to that too. Good deal? I dunno. It would have been nice to save some cash and get a used one but that wasn't an option here. Now the ski is completely mine and anything done to it has been what I wanted and I have gained great experience wrenching (and cursing inanimate objects) on it too.

Hopefully I can find something in my area for close to MSRP. I've talked to several dealers and only one even orders the Super Jet, the rest stated they don't sell enough to get one, but they can special order. So I'm not sure a dealer would go through the trouble to special order one for me, then cut me a great deal. I'm going to call around a bit more, but I might have to bite the bullet I guess.

you'll never buy anything that might not be offered next year and get a "great deal"... look at the 2011 sxr, I talked to dealers selling them for 2-3000 over msrp because they can't get another... if you want one you'll pay for it, if they decide to quit selling them in the states, the same unit will be worth more... paying msrp for something that most places don't even order isn't the end of the world, mine sat in the show room from feb-june(when I bought it) and he said he has had people look but no interest to buy it, only reason he came down from msrp was simply it was early enough he could order another 2012 if they would quit sales for 2013...

msrp on the 2012 is 7999... 2013 is 8199... wait long enough and you will pay more for the exact same unit without question.. If they say they will order one, ask them how much you can have it for, they'll know right off hand what they can sell it for...

Yeah I hear ya, and I think I will end up having to do that. No dealers within a few hours drive of me seem to carry them, but like I said will order one for me. One dealer told me they don't make much money on them, even at MSRP, hence they don't usually stock them. I guess take that for what it is.

One more question for you guys. I eventually plan on getting another PWC, probably a sit down, so the kids and wife can ride as well. How bad is it putting a stand up in the back of a pick up truck? Is this an OK way to get these ski's around? I'll eventually get a trailer, but don't want to buy a new one right away.
