Quote: thinking about popping the tops off and getting thempowdercoated

Those tops are glued to the screens. I've not had any luck re-attaching them

The tops on these type of filters separate and come off on their own from engine vibration. This one after silicone 920 or 5200 Was used, I forget which, lasted a 1/2 day. I will say I did not clean out the pocket of old adhesive. It Seemed like plenty of pocket remaining with both surfaces having good texture for silicone to adhere too. I did look at maybe trying to clean the old adhesive out, but the adhesive seemed harder than silicone so would have to scrap it out. Maybe wood working tools would be good to scrap it out. But then it's in the filter media too, so the whole thing seemed fruitless. If you want to expairment with one I could mail you this one then you can see what your getting into without destroying yours.

4 me it's a safety concern, I can't have my carbs throat open to whatever wants to find its way into my carb and go thru my engine unabated. I also don't want foreign objects or the disconnected carb top getting stuck in the throttle or throttle blade. As luck would have it that would occurs right as a lanyard or stop/start switch failed. Then ski go by by, hopefully not killing someone.

Ski looks amazing! Glad to see how clean it came out. Let's me see the potential for mine but also depresses me because I'm so far behind... My 3 day old daughter is slowing things down even more for me. I think my ski had the same mom different dad.
