Finally some more progress. MSD is modified and in. Had to do some customization. Go figure between the pump, MSD, and PFP this is where most of my build time went.

Now onto hood seal, latch and catch. Then tying down all the hoses and wiring

image.jpg

After tuning ill use this template MSD plate to make a few more and anodize them then swap the prototype out. Think i want to add holes for the switch etc

Nice and clean OEM parts install. Few small adders for next batch of plates but this will work great for sawpping between skis and hulls easily now with the stock Yamaha brackets

Made some more progress. Temporary wiring and cooling for tuning purposes are in. Sooner or later i have to determine a color. Thinking blue or red this time on the flat black canvas.

Next is installing the mounts for hoses and wires. Found some parts to bond specifically to carbon thanks to Boeing airplanes :0)

Found these wire and cooling line harness hangers through work a few years back and have been using them with great success on every build since. Super high quality and havent had one fail yet. The secret is the bonding agent and sanding and cleaning the area. They are fool proof if sanded and cleaned properly.

Super small, light and made specifically for Carbon and Fiberglass bonding with resistance to heat and petroleum products :) I figured it was the perfect fit for our sport and aftermarket hulls.

These can take the messiest builds and make them clean and bullet proof. If you are having issues with cables, wires, and cooling lines chaffing, moving around and getting cut, this is the solution.

first a little scotch brite or sand paper to the bonding area of the clip

Next i tapped off an area on the hull i was going to bond to
IMG_3344.JPG

More sanding of this area between the tape
IMG_3345.JPG

Some cleaner to make the adherance better
IMG_3346.JPG

Then some super secret sauce :) Expoxy, Plexus, Urethane, or Panel fusor. They come with a very expensive urethane that will never come off.
IMG_3349.JPG

Press into place and the 3M adhesive patches put the perfect film thickness of epoxy down.
IMG_3350.JPG

Wait until set, remove adhesive application plastic by rocking side to side

Installed and ready for anythign you can zip tie

Installed the cooling, bilge fittings, hood seal and latch. Finally done and on the water for some tuning last week. It was a ton of build time, way more than I expected as usual. The normal culprits are turf, MSD TL, PFP, and lining up everything. Missing small items were kept to a minimum this time as we now stocki most every part to make all the builds easier for us. Here are some finished photos before vinyl and or paint this fall if we decide to do so. Luckilly I had dialed in the TPE 1105 in the KDX before it left, or I would have really been behind this season. First ride reports next :)

We have ridden this a few times now with 50/50 fuel and all i can say is wow, almost unrideable. This was a very mild tuning, 28 deg adv. I feel like a new rider again. It is so light and flickable. Thsi ski is going to take me a few weeks to get used to. The power, light weight, hook up of this package is hard to ride. The hull is similar tot he KDX, but the up tilt of the 64Y reduction nozzle makes the ski land nose up. This makes my riding away from single tricks difficult until i figure out how to center myself over the pole. Once i regain my neutral landings this will be the best package i have ever ridden, bar none. So far in 5 gals of fuel I have done my first ever 540s on FW. This ski spins so fast its difficult to spot the landings. I attribute this to the weight and expessially the Xscream trim and turn nozzle. I will never ride anythign else again. I hated the Xscream trim for all the issues they used to have, now I understand. Next level stuff there, thanks to Johnny Leftley and Phil Clemmons for talking me into it and Lucas for set up advise. Rick at Xscream for being Rick, Erik at TPE, and Phil specifically for all the setting advise. You are the man, when it comes to dialing a ski in.

Set up wakes are slightly different from my previous skis, basically attributed to the 64Y, but i'll dial the timing in hopefully this long weekend.

Still some fine tuning to go, the steering nozzle is off on the bore size right now. The TPE 1105 is insane, way different than before with this package, almost too much power :) Cant wait till I can say I have tamed this beast. Frosty rode it Monday. He'll have to chime in here and comment also.

Now somebody teach me how to ride this thing as its going to be a great season on this monster!

Brian, nice build! I want to ride this baby!

Can you show me a picture of those fuel/cooling line holders with the lines in them? And possibly a link to buy them? If its your secret, i am ok with that! Going OCD in my engine bay is my next build move.

Nice build coming along Brian,
I'm interested to see how the quick connects hold up over time. sweet idea for sure. Hey have you ever had issues with the waterbox melting the straps without turf to help insulate them?

I have run these QD for over 8 years with no problem. Replaced o rings once. I just noticed this year one might be time to replace, years of vibration and the plastic wears down, but no failures yet.

Matt. I can order more of the fuel cooling line mounts through work, they are $8 each if you want some. The special adhesive ranges from 25-55 a tube.

The QR 3/8" cooling line fittings are $7.50 each for the set.

Is the clear plastic part of those mounts (as shown in the picture in your hand) or is that just a tool used to push it into the adhesive?

Ride reports are back. Now three of us have ridden this thing. Insane. Frosty had wiplash, but managed to handle the power fine after a few times getting tossed like a rag doll :) Cant wait for him to chime in. Paul rode it sunday and cant wait to get his 1105 done now.

The ski rides nose high as set up, its super light with the TPE cast powerplant, prob 8-22 lbs lighter than comparable setups. Makes landings more difficult as this is now definitely a Pro set up. Center of gravity is smaller now. Finally Sat Sunday I was able to "stick" most of my landings. I'm finding that pulling up the tray with my feet just before landings makes quite the difference. Also a shorter pole, and getting my body forward on the landings helps. Amplitude is insane, have never heard so many comments from the beach after one ride session before. My wife claims she had people from all over questioning here while i was riding. Had two people tell me they were buying a ski now. LOL Im sure a Kawi SXI will suffice.

You can change wherever the ski is just by turning you head. It's insane what i was able to accomplish with body english and spotting the landings. This is the ski and set up. Now off to practice getting my skill set up to the par this package deserves.

All I can say about this ski is, it's sick! Power galore. Handling was a bit tough for me for the first few minutes (coming from a heavier surf layup Foot Rocket with a 971). Rides nose high, so that was also quite a bit different... but WOW what a killer ski. Once you get comfy with the handling, it's a fun ride for sure.

overall I really love this ski. A few rag doll flat water flips before I was able to land a very nice flip - slightly over rotated.

If I could justify the cost to have this ski for flat water and my Rocket for surf, I would!

Great job on this one Brian... your best build ever. Power. Attention to detail on everything. Absolutely amazing. You can drop it off for me tomorrow after work. = )
