Or here is another scenario. What if, in a month Yamaha pulls a hat trick and shows up at WF's with a Production Model 4 Stroke???? Just like Kawasaki did 2 years ago. Granted, a week before there were leaked video's at body beach showing them running the bouy course. It was the worst best kept secret so to speak..........
Well, since my friend quit and is no longer a manager at Yamaha I guess I can tell you what the Yamaha watercraft rep told him a month ago. Keep in mind this is what I was told by him so I can't verify myself. In about June the watercraft rep stated that he was really excited that the new superjet was finished and approved. Scott Watkins had been testing if for a few years now and was really excited because it was so good and corporate finally agreed to put it into production. It was basically the existing hull with the TR-1 4-stroke engine so there was very little R&D and investment for corporate. This was not going to be the big heavy and fast beast that the Kawasaki is, it was to be the same superjet we love with a EPA approved 4-stroke engine. He said Scott had been pushing this project for a few years now but the top brass would not give it the green light because of the sales failure of the Kawasaki. The rep stated that it would be announced at the Wave Runner dealer meeting in August and the dealers could start ordering units for the Summer 19 season. That brings us to the end of July when the Wave Runner rep came back and I told my friend to make sure he asks about the superjet. The rep was really bummed and apparently so was Scott but he said corporate killed the project once again. The new superjet would not be announced or at the August dealer meeting. He als didn't know if the project was dead forever or the exact reason, only that there would be no announcements , orders or new superjet.
If this information will cause problems or get anybody in trouble please delete it or I can delete it.
For me I hope Scott keeps pushing and they finally put it into production.
