24 Hours of Lemons Race Car - SUPERJET

This is our car for the 2009 Lemon's race in Houston. The series is for piece of junk cars. The maximum you can spend is $500. Including fixing, modifying and theme-ing your car.

Our car is a 1986 Toyota MR2 with a 1991 MR2 front end conversion (the first and only one we know of). The engine is a 1988 Celica All-Trac turbo engine and the transmission/axles are out of a 1995 non-turbo MR2 (tighter ratios).

We decided to make our car into a 2009 Yamaha Superjet

We attached a SN handle pole to the roof. Turfed the rear trunk and engine lid. And added BOLD NEW GRAPHICS.

Well, safety stuff (wheels, tires, brakes, cage, harness, seat, steering wheel, etc) is not included in the $500 budget. The cage cost us $700 for a bender, $400 in materials and about 2 weeks lost work.

Lot's of people hear "$500 race car" and think YEAH I can do that. But the fact is that the first race will cost you about $6000.

Graphics came in today. We painted the interior white to clean up the insides some. We added a nozzle to the rear and turfed the "side rails."
