Freestyle 300 SX build FINISHED!

Im going to pick up a 300 sx hull tomorrow. Time for a new build. I promise this one wont take as long as my 951sx took.

Im leaning towards a yamaha motor. At first I really was set on a 66E. Lack of conversion parts is making that my last choice.

760? I thought bigger was better, from what I was told the 701 makes better low end for freestyle. I really like the motor jetmaniac is selling all rebuilt and ready to run, and I think thats what Im sold on.

That being said, Im looking for suggestions for pipe, carbs and all kinds of go fast bolt on goodness. I will be parting out the kawidoo at the end of the season to fund this. So I want to put together a solid shopping list for when its time.

I plan to follow driftmasters lead and use my 750 hull for the pump, bearing carrier and floor donation. Ill be having my driveshaft cut and re threaded for a yamaha coupler. If I can get my hands on one and its in the budget- Ill be using a mag pump. Im going to re use my RN handle pole and bracket and mount it way up front like subnsxr on pwctoday did in his build. Im going to chop the rail up front and round off the nose, mold in the biggest sponsons I can find, re use my rev footholds, and do my best to keep it light.

the hull isnt even home yet and Im already thinking of the color... lambo orange pearl with white turf.

stay tuned.

long day driving, and an hour or 2 tearing stuff off and scraping the old paint. It started coming off with the stickers, so I razor bladed all the old paint right off. its shiny white now ready for glasswork and primer. I already chopped the nose, and took measurements. My shortened RN pole and bracket are going to work great once i raise up the spot where the oil tank used to live. Other than that I need to wait until i take the 951sx apart to sell so I can start taking donor parts. Im really pumped about this build.

So what's the plan for the pump area? Do you have a donor ski? I've been wanting to build one of these since well before the BOB came out. I just so happen to have complete 750sx and X2 hulls sitting here that might make good donors. Then swap everything from my running X2 and say bye-bye to it, I think I've come to my senses.

I am looking into the possibility of manufacturing a new epoxy-fiberglass pump tunnel then you could just zip open the tray, glass the new pump tunnel into the ski basically cutting the work for this conversion in half.

I was going to cut up my 750sx after I part out the 951 stuff once im done having my fun for the summer. Then if I get enough coin Ill buy a mag pump. Im going with jetmaniacs motor if they are available when Im ready. I was pondering using a yamaha pump to take the guess work out of the prop selection to go with that motor. But im sure it will all work out.

Yamaha motors are all new to me so if you were building this what would you run? I want this motor http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/77233...estyle-Ported-Motor-1600.&highlight=jetmaniac I plan on a b pipe, ADA girdled head, lw flywheel, stock charging system and ignition not sure on carbs, intake and reeds. Im open to suggestions.

What's wrong with that 951? No room I'll assume. Hey I'm a poet and I didn't know it. Stop that rhyming I mean it. Anybody what a peanut?....sorry I'm easily distracted.

I missed that you were going to use your 750 hull for this build.

If I had the coin available, I'd keep my eye out for good used 62t cases (some FS now with crank for $300) and 61x cyl, get some 46mm Blackjack carbs (there were 2 pair for sale not that long ago), ADA dome compatible head, and send it all to Art at Jetworks, or Dasa, or X-metal, or whomever you want and go big bore. But it will cost more than Chris' (Jetmaniac) engines, that's for sure. His is a good cost effective option and there have been plenty of happy customers.

way too heavy. BUT there is more room in this than there is in the 750 sx hull. Im sure it would go in easily. That motor makes power way up in the revs, not so much down low where needed for freestyle. I do appreciate the input on the motors, but the budget has me saying go with jetmaniacs motor and bolt on all the good stuff I can find for it. which b pipe do I want? I see there are a few chambers, and I like the wamiltons carbon one. but honestly dont know each one from the other.

I havent even thought about that. I was going to post it for sale as a complete kawidoo setup for 3,500.00 Novi 48 carbs, RE pipe, RE exhaust manifold, R&D intake, Novi remapped ignition, RE o-ring head, waterbox, wiring harness, mounts, 60 mph prop for the stock kawi pump etc. just drop in and go. the motor has 6 gallons of fuel through it. The top end is a week old, WSM .5mm over, crank is welded and trued to .0015 and was rebuilt by a local machine shop.

Well it must be catching . I'll be picking up a 300 sx this week . It's about 4 miles from the house . I'm told it runs just needs a top end . I Thought about fixing it for the kids and just making impossible to go any faster than 10 mph. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it . I will most likely put it in the pile of sh&^ that is growing in my garage. I keep monitoring the builds to decide my direction.

Not sure any mods would really be necessary lol

I wonder how critical engine placement is going to be in this? I would imagine the further back the better? Also will a mag pump really be necessary? What's so special about a set back pump? I really want to do flat water backflips with this when it's all done.

Be very careful on engine placement with this hull, even with the stock driveshaft and 550 engine mine was very nose light, if you are only going to use this for a backflipper then set it way back, if you want it as more of an all around general purpose ski then move the engine further forward.Mine is set as far forward as it will go.

You have a PM.

You can always set back your 650 pump if thats what you are thinking. I notices a difference in the trinity when I added the R&D super pump cone, I'm sure that with a Hooker 10-18 modified for the 650 pump would give you ALOT of hit.
